Damn shame to see this but I figured that someone had to bring it up. Sorry to see this place is a victim of the flood as well, I'd hate to think of the types of cars that are still trapped in there. Has anyone delt with them or any other flood damaged repair shops in the New Orleans area ?

Not sure how they faired, their showroom is slightly raised. But I know that when this place was owned by the previous owners they were notorious for selling cars and not reporting major damage, etc...

But now I hear their bodyshop is very solid. So what the hell do I know? ;)

"I'd hate to think of the types of cars that are still trapped in there."

Wow. I have many personal friends that work(ed?) at Performance who have likely had their lives ruined and you're concerned about the cars? While we all share a passion for cars they are of zero importance in comparison to the people who have been affected by this terrible tragedy. Not just for Performance, but everyone in the New Orleans area. Family members, homes, careers; you name it - gone. And you're worried about the cars and whether Performance may sell a water damaged vehicle at sometime down the line. Great humanitarians, you two are.

What did I say? Why don't you actually read my response and point out anything you can find that is objectionable. He asked a Q, I gave a response. And my response? I made mention of a practice that had occured there in the PAST under PREVIOUS owners. I made no mention, or allusions to this occuring now.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you just jumped on me without thinking anything through.

I live in N.O., evacuated, have had many things go up the creek this past 11 days, and certainly don't need you making BS judgements on me simply because you can't read.

FYI: The body shop has NOTHING to do with Performance and is a complete and seperate entity. The only thing they share is the building. Two different companies, two different owners. While there is some cross-over business, they are not affiliated, which your comment insinuates.

I am truly sorry for any loss that you may have incurred. We are all in the same boat in south-east Louisiana. The jack-ass that started this thread really pissed me off. You only added marginally to it.

Like I stated, these people are personal freinds of mine at Performance, every single one of them. Not just the owners, but to a greater degree, the sales staff, the mechanics & parts people, the porters, everyone. The statement regarding remorse over what "type of cars" that may have been trapped in there was totally callous and immature. Screw the cars. It's the PEOPLE that matter. And these people's lives, like too many others, have been put into a blender and turned on high speed.

It's a damn shame that someone on this site would place a higher degree of concern on the cars. I can only guess that it is one of the MANY posers on this board, rather than someone who is truly of this community.

    Curtis,

No one is debating the importance/value of human life vs. cars with you. John is a stand-up guy and definitely not a "poser".

Thanks for your input, Richard. I was referring to the thread starter as being a poser, not John.

    Peace,

I like this comment. Especially followed by this one:
    hmm
    ok, this is also understood.

Wait, so now they DO have something in common with Performance?

Ah, yes. I 'insinuated' so much. My 'insinuation', by definition, was malicious, meant to entrap, insiduous, or all of the above

Look, I understand your frustration completely. These are very trying times for us and many others. It's not easy for anyone, and I too have gotten very pissed at some comments people are making on this board. Some are very insensitive, ignorant, or just plain jackasses.

But this is not the case for Solipsist. I believe him to be a nice guy who understands what is going on here. I also believe his reason for posting this was to get people's minds off of the more serious things we face. I am sure he didn't realize that it would strike such a chord with you, being that you have so many close relationships involved. Instead, I think he was trying to lighten the mood and bring back some more light-hearted car conversation to the mix.

If there is anything I can do to help you reach some of these people please let me know. I know many people staying in the area and can put out the feelers if necessary. Hope this all works out for you and that eventually we grab a drink together in our fine city.
