I took the Diablo SV for a Drive yesterday ( with the help of Steve from Driven Exotics ) and to my expectations the SV is a quick car, I did not push it to its limits or anything crazy but I ran it through a few gears, and I can tell its a super car , my last few cars were , 1993 Nissan Skyline single turbo , 89 Bentley turboR ( luxury I know ) ,1975 Ferrari GT4 , 85 Lotus turbo esprit,68 Porsche 912 with a ported 12 a Rotary motor and complete 935 Imsa body work,1970 Torino cobra 429 4 speed + probably every muscle car you can imagine, But there is something very different about the Lamborghini, its supposed to go 200 mph ( it feels like it can ) , but it also has awesome acceleration too., What were the performance reports stateing for this car, and has anybody done simple mods before and after, for Example , my car has the larini Exhaust minus 2 cats , its loud and has power, has anybody drove with the stock system and then changed it to a different system for comparison? BIg change? How fast have you Diablos owners taken your car ( of course in a safe setting) ? I would be interested in knowing the limits of my car , Thanks .

tested numbers for the SV were around 4.5 0-100 Km-h and around 325 Km-h in top speed (i think there was also a shorter gear ratios for the SVs with a bit over 300 Km-h top and improved acceleration times)

on diablo and countach there is also a nice weight saving with a sport muffler

the big stock box is HEAVY!!! and produce a lot of heat toegether with cats

i made a thread on this topic
    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280364

i think a good sport exhaust and 2 cat deleters can give some 20 hp over stock, beside a big weight saving and reducing heat

as for basic mods: exhaust, cat by pass, air filters
i also know early US diablos have a different timing than euro cars, adjusting them on euro values will make few more hp (i am not sure this is true for SV model though...)

diablos are fast cars, all good ones with the longer ratios can reach 200 mph (some diablos, like SE30, 6.0, 99 VT roadster, etc.. were clocked at over 330 Km-h on euro magazines)

Well, if you were at Steve's....I am sure you saw a few of my toys there. I can say Steve does fantastic work and seems to get every ounce of performance out of the Diablos.

I can say my 2001 6.0 cars, as well as my 1994 SE cars that he has gone through are just in-sainly FAST. I guess maybe I push the limit, as Steve knows..but we have both had my cars into the high 190 several times with out a flaw. The only Lambos I have ever had over 200MPH, based on GPS were my 2001 Diablo 6.0SE#19 and #12 as well as my
2010 LP670-4SV, which till this day holds my GPS record of 209mph....

where? You will never ever find out LOL LOL

.....................I won`t ask where, LOL , I did not send my car to Driven Exotics, but I would not hesitate to send my car there if needed, its just not in the budget right now, years ago 20 or 30 maybe , I was out in my Hot Rod that was quick, when I pulled up to a white Coutach, this thing sounded radical , I mean i was in shock, + he left me in the dust, way faster than my Mercury, + I thought someday I am going to have a lamborghini 12 cyl . beast, That day is here now , you are right Roy , they are classified as insainly Fast . When my car is complete I will report its performance.

Be aware that the power output in the 95-98 cars vs the 99 cars . (i believe 97-95 were all european models) my 97 was a canadian model , no us models produced that year . But the us 98 model made 510 hsp while the 99 made 530 hsp . That maybe some performance stats differences you see possibly as well ...

    my 97 is an euro

as for what i remember 98 have the same engine as 99, so 510 hp (claimed)
and 99, as you said, 530 hp

from dyno tests it looks like all 5.7 engines have more or less the same hp though

My dyno numbers from March of this year were 414 whp (lb ft) SAE corrected results.

The car is a 99 SV. Not bad for an 11 year old car rated at 530hp at the crank from the factory. The car is bone stock.

..................Yes they could have been different year cars tested, slightly different horsepower ratings, that would knock off a tenth or 2 off the time and maybe some additional top end,I think top end has alot to do with aerodynamics., but HP never hurt either !

... still about the SV, what was the production numbers? Less than a hundred?

... and what is the meaning of SV? Spinto Veloce as stated in the International Lamborghini Registry?

    Thanks!

Haven't read anything definitive on actual production numbers, but the broad consensus seems to be less than 400 in total between 1995 and 1999. US imports were limited to the '98 and '99 model years.

SV meant Spinto Veloce (or Pushed/Tuned Fast depending no the literal or slang translation) for both the Miura and the Diablo. It was only with the current Murcielago that Lambo changed it to the anglicized Super Veloce.

I was told by the factory that in 1999 about 100 SV cars were produced for the World with about 25 finding their way to the US. Also, I have an email from Valentino Balboni where he states that the SV stood for Special Version. This car is rare with only about 25 99 SV's brought in.

The 510 HP rating for the SV was pre MY98. The variable valve timing engine was added for MY 98 and was the same as the 99 MY. Both model years had 530 HP. For reasons unknown, the addition of the VVT engine in MY98 is not documented well.

    correct

it should be noted all the 5.7 engines (with the exception of jotas) put very similar rwhp numbers on dyno.

jota, 6.0 and GT have more power
