Hihihihi has anyone had perf upgrade madde on their 550. i've already had the tubi installed but i am more interested in increasing power / enhancing handling / improved braking mods. i've heard of the airfilters, seen a post about new brakes... could be helpful if fellow owners could alos include some idea of the cost of such mods. Any experience ??
Thibaut: Follow Stephen's posts...he has posted his Dyno results with the before / after for BMC filters. Also: did you check your shock actuators? --Dan
hihihi... was travelling and just picked the car from my F-specialist (verdi) on the way back from heathrow. I had asked them to check all suspension. came out allright. interestingly i think needed just a reset of the computer. will give it a look over the w-e though. i've seen the BMC filter thread but wanted to know if something else was possible. I am pretty confused by this filter thing.... dont want to damage the thing. Has anyone tried KN ?
BMCwas started by ex K&N staff if rumours I heard are correct. The flat panel filters are the same anyway, so I wouldn't be fussed and will happily interchange between the two. BTW BMC is used by the Ferrari F1 team, check them out at http://www.bmcairfilter.com
thanks joker... but i am pretty old school in my judgmnts. the kind of guy who still beelieve a 993 id better than aa 996.... so i am not judging thingd by spec ssheet but only feeling
Well - the 993 vs 996 I can follow. I sold my 993 Ruf Turbo R for a 996 Ruf Rturbo - which I sold again after little over a year. I think the 996 is soul-less - even with 520 hp. The 550 was my favourite car - but the 575 is better in my opinion, although I still think it could use another 100 horses... As for brakes/suspension, I'm sure König can deliver. http://www.koenig-specials.com/ I have no personal experience with them.
Didn't like the ride or the F1 on the 575. The only real performance difference is the F1 swapping cogs faster. The power difference between 550 and 575 is marginal at best, I challenge anyone to notice less than 25hp on a 500hp car.
It's not so much the 30hp or so (and less weight), but rather that all the horses feel like they are all awake, which they didn't in the 550 I had. The engine is more torquey at lower revs, which enhances the power feeling in the 575. Didn't like the ride in the 575 either until I had a special chip delivered from the factory which made the suspension even harder than the Fiorano package - together with a lowering and 19" wheels it's now quite good... Before this it made me seasick...
