The Ori antenna is broken and I am installing a new automatic antenna, but the new one does not work via Ferrari dashswitch. Should work via continuous power and via radio control wire. Is there a continuous power supply somewhere at the back? Anyway on the ori antenna wires there is no continu power so?

By "continuous power supply", do you mean:

    +12V with the key "on"
    or
+12V always (even with key "off")?

I'm not the original question asker but I'm looking for a KEY ON 12V source back there to connect a backup camera. There has to be one on one of the Microplex terminals but I wonder about connecting anything else to that point for fear of affecting Microplex operation.

Yes, probably not great to use the +12V going to the Microplex ignition ECU. How much current do you need? If you have a US version 328, IIRC, some of the air injection system stuff on the engine has +12V key "on" going to it, but anything more than about 1A would be getting OB.

Thanks Steve - Yes, a US 1989 328. I don't know the camera power consumption - and I'm not where the car/camera is located until late November but I would think the draw would be a watt or two at most so well under an amp. But I admit I'm guessing re the power draw... ;)

Hi Steve, Actually key "off" as when I drive there is enough nice engine sound :) and I only listen to the radio when standing still and engine off.
    Mine is a E version 1986 328

Mike- bc you will be using it for a back up camera can you wire it to your back up lights or does the camera need power at all times driving or parked

There already is an unswitched 12v power source at the antenna.

The switched 12v sent to the antenna is only a signal voltage. When the ignition switch is in 'run" position and the antenna switch is "on", a 12v signal is sent to the antenna system to tell it to raise the antenna using the unswitched 12v source.

When the engine is turned off or the antenna switch is flipped to the "off" position (and the signal voltage thus drops to 0V), the antenna uses the unswitched 12v source to run the antenna motor to lower the antenna.

Ok, but by using the normal connection and the switch of the Ori antenna I already destroyed 2 antennas. This is an antenna type as discriped in other threads were if you want to use it you have to do something with a diode or so but to do so i ame not competend :)
