Hi guys, been a while since I have been posting here. I want to have a cool registration tag for my 550 and have been considdering these: Which one would you choose? Or something else? Can be six digits if I keep my small front plate or seven digitalt if I get a std big tag as is in the rear of the car. Thanks! I like 1 and 3. 550FER, in English, looks like you are "intimate" (vulgar) with your Ferrari. That may not matter
Not at all a bad suggestion! But somehow, I dont want to write V12 allll over the car. People who know, they know and people who don’t, might not need to know either... thanks.
Eric- You already have Ferrari written all over her, too. People who know will know she is a Maranello, too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, beautiful is in the eye of the beholder, so it is always a risk that someone don’t like it... I had to Google Land of entchantment and found a good promo video of your beautiful state. Reminds me a bit of Norway to be honest. I kind of like the 550 GTO as it has a very clear lunk to the 250 GTO which in my opinion is the ”origin” of the 550, although the 550 never was homologated. Or was it with the Prodrive / FIA racing? (sorry, I don’t know the correct name of the class it competed in). This ”incorrect” Mosel description, will leave people with knowledge on Ferrari start to diskussion the matter, and then come to the same conclusion as myself, which is the fact that a 550 is not too far away from the best and most expencive car of all time, the 250 GTO!
Eric- Having lived in Norway for 3 years, I do not find too much similar between New Mexico and Norway, except for scarcity of people in some parts. The fjords here are definitely overrated.
If you can keep it less than 6 characters and want people to know what model the car is than simply “550M” would be nice. It’s not written on the boot like the 575 so identifying it on the plate seems right.
I like "SF 133": Scuderia Ferrari Tipo F133 engine. I submitted the request to the Hong Kong transport department when the "SF" series reg numbers were starting to become available, and figured I should have no competition at the auction. I was surprised when I got handily outbid. The winning bid was about US$4,000 I recall. My wife later explained to me that "133" is a lucky number in Cantonese because of some pun with having a long, prosperous life. So presuming there isn't a Chinese owner in Sweden who also has a Ferrari with at Tipo 133 engine, that reg may just help you lead a long and prosperous life as well.
No bad suggestions here! Yes, the personal tag can be from two to seven digits. There are quite a few now with their initials from their name, which is not bad either, as the personal tag is an addition to the real registratorn number and can be moved to another car and is varit for ten years at a fixed cost of 6.000 crowns or about 680 Us dollars. Not bad compared to the British system there you got brokers selling all kinds of strange tags... MARANLO or MODENA would also be possible. We’ll see what I choose, but I like 550 GTO alot.
Surely 550GTO is a lie and therefore wrong Why not 'My 550' or the local equivalent - is it 'MIN 550' ?
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sorry, already taken Funnily enough, the Jag has a standard plate; REY=KING and 250 is the limited top speed.
It isn’t, just saying some people with dirty minds (like mine, but only humorously) can read it as f’er, if you get my drift
I should add that I only bring this up because every time I’ve applied for personalized plates, some jerk has to come along and say, “Hey, it looks like (insert asinine observation here).”
I recognize that I have to be really careful not to insult someone with my personal tag.... everybody has some kind of idea in some way... The best thing is that with a personal tag, I think the «speed camera police» in foreign countries will have a hard time finding the owner of the car when there is no S for Sweden in the front plate...and in Monaco which is multi lingual with people from all kind of countries, they have to see the back of the car to tell where I am from. Now, as Norway this year also introduced personal tags, it will be very hard to see it is a Swedish car People in Norway look down on cars from other countries, just because they cost half the price. Norwegians are stupid enough to pay the same price for the tags as for the car itself. For example (the worst example) a Chevrolet Surburban cost about 50.000 dollars in the US Brand new. In Norway, it costs about 200.000 dollars with the taxes, which is calculated out of a very complicated formula of the price, the weight, the displacement, the age, of it has AC or not, and its pollution (grams of CO2 per km.). I HATE THIS SYSTEM. With a personal tag I can drive my Swedish Ferrari all over the world including Norway if I live outside Norway. If I live in Norway and I drive it, the tax man will (with no exceptiobs) impound that car and add 60% to the actual taxes which is now on my 19 year old car about 25.000 dollar! I just don’t accept that! As I have my boat sale company in sweden, and live outside Norway, I am on the right side of the law, but I also want to visit Norway with that car, and with a personal tag, it is less likely to «go under the radar» as the little S instead of the N is the only way to distinguish it from a Norwegian car... Any questions why I moved?
How is RAY = king? Funney thing is, I also have a Jag like that and a 550. A proof of good taste for little money... The Jag statys in South Florida. Haven’t driven it much the last year. Have been working a bit on the Maserati instead.
Not at all a bad idea. It reminds me of a friend who had a F50 GT... no I like 550 GTO. I guess the only thing I need is a Prodrive engine with twelve throttle bodies and Fabio super F1 exhaust....
550 GTO is a misnomer. The 250 GTO had a SOHC engine, front transmission, and live rear axle with helper springs. About the only similarities to a Maranello were the engine was in the front, body was aluminum, steel space frame, and both had disc brakes. Kind of hard to equate an 1800 lb race car with a 3800 lb grand tourer. Now, if you wanted to call it a 550 GTB, that is closer to the mark, even if not completely accurate. Follow-on to the 275 GTB/4 and 365 GTB/4 with 4 cam engines, IRS, torque tube, and rear mounted transaxle.
