As a journalism major myself in school, this is very depressing. He is definitely a genuine & bold journalist & he will definitely be missed. My thoughts & prayers to his family.

Sad, My best friends father died a year ago to the same cancer.

He entered many peoples homes daily, brought them news, comforted them, brought them familiarity and consistency to their otherwise uncertain lives.

I am sick and tired of people bringing up Africa or anyone else. The fact is when you know someone, weather personally or not, as a human being you are moved or taken by their departure from this earth. I sponsor a kid in Africa, his name is !Sali, if one day something was to happen to him god forbid, I would be devastated. If someone in his town died, I would not be as moved because i did not know them. Its just human nature dude.

BTW. You seem to be quick to protest the 000's of children dying in Africa, do you sponsor any of them then?

Edit: I just realised your name in your profile is Hotman Paris. Funnilly enough I went to a fancy costume party 2 weeks ago dressed up as him!

It is a sad day. I'm glad he was honest about his smoking. It may be unrelated but at least he didn't pull the punches on this item.

indeed very sad. i remember the day frank reynolds retired and i liled him so much. i remember thinking how do you fill those shoes? they did that in spades w/ peter jennings.

he really seemed kind, genuine, passionate and so comforting. it think he was the very best and did what he did with real dignity.

he seldom if ever seems one to editorialize but fancied himself a journalist. he did what he did w/ an even hand and you felt his excitement when there was great news to report and you felt his pain and remorse when the news was sad.

you did always however, feel there would be a great day ahead.

    he will be missed.

sad day for the country and a huge loss for american journalism.

i've always admired him for his principles. he became american citizen in 2003 and it was extremely important to him. he epitomized an "american".....my condolences to his family.
