I know that the car has been discussed before but Top Gear has an article accompnied with some fantastic shots of the car. See below:

    http://www.topgear.com/content/features/stories/2006/07/stories/10/1.html

The Pininfarina rep also mentions jim's P 4/5 - "We will build at most five a year, always one-offs. Our next car you will see in August, at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance in America. All I can say is that the car here has nothing to do with the one that will appear there."

Pininfarina have been quite busy lately havent they? ;)

Nice article... I think it's an all out improvement over the production 612... I'm surprised because usually these one off customer designed cars always seem to end up short of their expectations...

Huuuge improvement over the regular 612 in my eyes... Why Ferrari didn't include some of the ideas in the Kappa is weird.. Just looks so much better.

    Thanks for the link.

Only thing I don't like on the Kappa is the bonnet scoop. Other than that, it is far better than the regular 612!

I think many of the things added to create the Kappa, should have been on the production car. I love the improvments.

    Awesome looking car.

    However.......

If I was Mr Kalikow, I'd be sending it back! The dash display still reads '612 Scagletti" - surely they could have changed the to read "612 Kappa"?

The devil is in the detail.

I had picked out all the alterations except this one:

"One that's certain to elude most people is the removal of the tiny shutline between the sill and the base ofthe rear wing. "

that panel is black (plastic?) on the regular 612. On his, the blue aluminum continues down and under and around the exhaust.
Boy, thats going to require ALOT of touch-up paint....

Beautiful car... wish the production car looked like that....

At the very least Ferrari could add a hood scoop to the 612 like the Kappa. It makes the car look so much better then the factory 612. I was seriously looking at a 456 M because I hated the front of the 612. After sitting in one I decided to go with the 612 and look to be ordering one in the next year. I hope they do make some decent changes in the 2008 verision.

Ferrari if your listening, add the hood scoop to the 612! :)

Cool thanks for posting. I do prefer this to the current 612 shame they won't build it. Actually though the original shown here in blue from monterey bests them all though!

This car is very tastfully designed. Pininfarina has done with this car, what customed coach-working has meant from the start. It looks like the modern model it is, but you know there are certian tweaks made. Sort of like a Versace pair of leather pants.

This is a very prime instance of custom-coachwork. Nicely done.
Accented, with little touches that say there is something special.

    Kind Regards,
    Jon

    amazingly beautifull.
This is how a 612 should have been in the first place.

I really admire someone like mr. Kalikow who uses his funds to create something unique like this. This is the true spirit of building ferraris.
Efforts like this have resulted in the heritage and fame of ferrari.

Like the one offs in the fifties and sixties they will be the styling icons of their time.
Interesting classic cars all have their own story to tell.
In 40 years this car will probably be an icon, covered in magazines like Cavallino and will be discussed on F chat.
I also want to bring to your attention the 575gt Zagato by a Japanese collector, a jewel on wheels too.
And last but certainly not the least is the p4/5 Mr. Glickenhaus a really special car.

2006 has been an outstanding year in ferrari design. thanks to a few people who recognize the potential of building a car to their own specifications, "with respect to the heritage".
There is nothing wrong with this. Everybody who can afford a car like this should be able to fullfill this.

Styling exercises are not apreciated by every purist, but hey,.. were they all apreciated in the early days?

Let's see what 2007 will bring us to enjoy.

thanks to the initiators for bringing something special to the enthousiasts.

Given the amount of interest in the P4/5, I believe this will become the most valuable Ferrari (perhaps car?) of all-time (in the not-too-distant future). It is a car of so many "firsts" that anything after it will be a follower. Furthermore, it is driveable in most conditions and appeals to a very wide audience (and generation). The only thing missing is a thrilling story behind it (any "behind the scenes" intrigue between PF and Ferrari? Any midnight 219 mph runs by Schumi around Modena? )
