Has anybody heard of Max doing a Ferrari poster? I have a guy offering to
trade me one for some stuff I have for sale? I haven't heard back yet, but
would like to find out more info. I did numerous searches on the internet
for a look at the painting/post but couldn't find anything. But seems like I
have seen something like that in the past, so I figured someone would know
    here. ;o)

Don't know but he did a cover for a magazine we print a couple years ago and he was nice enough to autograph it for me. I framed it, it hangs in my office.

I commissioned him a couple years ago for a family portrait: If you make the right donation, he'll probably respond.

Are you sure the artist was Peter Max and not Leroy Neiman?

Peter is in New York, and perhaps he does mean Neiman as Peter does sports posters, but not many action type shots of sporting events as Leroy does.

The style isn't psychedelic enough to be Peter Max and too basic-looking to be Neiman. What does the signature in the lower left corner say?

I'm thinking it was more of a painting similar to this:
I know the Peter Max style (no mistaking it) and thought
I had seen the painting once (It was a painting of the "hood"
    crest).
I can't get a email back from the guy who originally offered
me the trade, to get a photo of what he's talking about. He's
got my curiosity now though. As I think that might be kinda cool
    to have.

"Told of Max’s plan for them, though, he says, “From a car enthusiast’s standpoint, they’re worth more in their deteriorated condition than if they were painted by Peter Max.”"

from an art collector's standpoint too.

I love Leroy...every time I go to the Hotel Del [Coronado] I make a special pilgramage to his depiction of the Hotel Del with that lovely gal on the horse running on the beach where, as a midshipman, I would have to do my 3 mile runs. One thing Leroy does is depict the flair, the exuberance, the color of the moment. It's truly the moment in a flash, that I like what he does. He is so good at making several feelings into one painting: Work of a true artist, is to have one ponder over and over again and see all that they could had they been there like a poet [just my vision only].

Here is that pic, rather badly done, of the Max portrait I took tonight....sorry for the bad pic [someday I will master the damn, digital, camera], tried, but...well I was cooking and thought of this at the last min. The pic is us helping to introducing one of Gloria Ferrar's new, wonderful cuve 'champagne'/sparkling wines here in Sonoma. Gala night, and, well, the only pic I had at the time. I donated, some dollars, to the New Orleans relief fund that was one of Max's favorites just after Katrina. He graciously gave a personal portrait of my choice. He doesn't do this often and I feel/WE feel, quite honored. IF there be a fire in the house, I'll run to that room and retrieve the pic first, let the Ferraris burn.

I am heavy into art...you should see the house. Point being. When you like someone, you know, there is no words to correctly express the passion you feel: you just gather it about you. It's the Ferrari scenario....you just know, that such is correct and you want more of it. There is no perfection, only admiration, and a charge to protect such. I feel blessed to be with what I have witnessed. The 'portrait'........even though she looks great and [cr@p] I look plastic :) ] and I love it is Peter's vision. Perhaps he sees something I don't....then again, I never look back, and I am quite happy with what, who I am: Done.

PS: Just thought of 'stuff''. That train you see on that particular mantle is a 1930's child's toy live steam locomotive. LOVE the working gear you find in those, and the couplings, gauges, switches, etc. Even the wheels have working suspension....very nice

Yes, I have the 'celestial' lady in the bedroom also, a one-off he did on an envelope, but it's cool...very different.

JFK, is excellent. Peter was being a bit 'kind' by not swishing me, but truly was looking fwd to him dooding me up....in real life he made many swirls on our faces and a bit more color...

Going to get a better light and camera to take a true pic that can post better. The COLORS: striking.

My wife and I bought that print at the Del years ago and I have it hanging in the family room. It brings back great memories. I love his work too.

Very cool portrait... what a story too. Very cool. I got wild on PhotoShop
a few nights ago and designed my own Max Ferrari painting. hehe This is
what I has envisioned he had painted... maybe not?

    hehe Thanks.
That would be cool. Unfortunately it's a bit too small
to enlarge to a nice size. Maybe I'll play around a bit more.

Wonder what it could sell for... me NOT being famous & stuff. hehe

I'm sure Max could take a bucket of paint and throw it at a canvass,
sign his name in 3 seconds & sell it for $5K. ;o)

    Thanks for the compliment...

I've seen him paint, and his style is interesting to say the least/most. Yup, buckets of paint with several dips of the same brush.
