Hey everyone - of the best racing of the season is this Saturday from Road Atlanta. Speed will carry something like 3 hours of coverage is all but go to www.radiolemans.com for commentary - also XM radio 166. Off to Atlanta in the morning, talked with Mike (Yzee) earlier tonight and he was about to enjoy the required night practice - Speed had a special at 6 pm our time on Petit.

Penske is running three RS Spyders, several IRL guys driving in the event, Peugeot was VERY fast on the circuit, Green Challenge this race. State of the Series address is tomorrow (Friday at something like 11 am).

    Everyone have a great weekend.

    GO RISI !!! Salo/Melo - a fantastic racing duo.

Forgot to mention it's on Motors TV for you UK guys, also live timing on www.imsaracing.net

Hypothetically, if we were two toss our dogs in the car and drive down (Jr. is at Nana's house already) where would the best place to bunk up be?

    Thanks for the info Carol.

This is one event I would love to attend when I am better, assuming by that time I am not using a cane. I was hoping to receive my 1/7 scale Salo/Melo Ferrari in time to race it around the house this weekend, but won't have it until next week.

    I will be there tomorrow!
I was there last year and it's a fantastic event---lots of fun.
Make no mistake, it's no F1 weekend at Indy, but still a lot of fun. I got some pretty decent pictures last year so i'll try and do the same again and post them up.

Peugeot (did I spell that correctly??) is on the pole!!! Although I want the audi to win, it is good to see real competition. This is a great series, too bad most here do not know much about it. Seems like only Carol and Michael.

Yes, the Frenchies are on pole and it is a beutiful car. Just like at LeMans, a little more power but requires a little more fuel. Will the Audi's reliability and less fuel win, or will a lighter LMP2 car come up front. The more yellows, the more a LMP2 car has a chance. Last year Penske LMP2 P-Car beat the Audis by 20 sec. after 10 hrs. It's 10 hrs. or 1000 miles. With the record times of today it will probably not make 10 hrs. without some red flags.

Risi Ferrari is GT2 pole. WooHoo.

We are at Audi hospitality. All the drivers came after lunch. Signed some of my photos. I go to a few races, IMHO this is the premire race event in the US. The Audi guys talked of Road Atlanta being the best course in the US. High speed with elevation you can't see on the tube. Elevation that would challenge a goat.

Maybe you will join us next year Ron.

Just got back, that was fricken' awesome. Alan McNish is the man. On the edge of my seat (grass hill at turn 5) until the finish and the fireworks! The Risi guys pulled it out as well, so my horses all won :)

We don't have a spoiler here and I don't care. Just got in myself. Motor racing at it's best. At about 8:pM last night I leaned against the wall at pit out. You are 5 ft from pit lane, 10 ft from the racing lane. I just watched the cars going away from me in the dark. This is real close. I tried to guess the car approaching me from behind by the sound. Maybe you had to be there. Maybe you should be if you like racing cars.

We were at the Audi Hospitality tent over looking the paddock, part of turn 12, same with turn 1. Yes, the race was absolutely fantastic. Statistics posted by Speed TV -1000 miles; 101 drivers; 68 drivers raced in March at the 12 hours of Sebring; 46 of the drivers drove in the 24 Hours of LeMans this past June

Yes, Allan is awesome - to be in the "garage" at the start of the race, to start two laps back and less than 10 hours later WIN THE RACE is incredible on the part of the drivers and team. When Allan is on a mission, watch out!

I actually took pictures at this race thanks to Mike - he entrusted me with one of his Nikon SLR cameras yesterday - I haven't yet loaded the disk to see what I took!

The incident near the end of the race was really something. We had been down at the podium since 7:30 pm and saw several incidents at turn 12. Thank goodness Pilet - Lizard's #46 and Intersport #30 driver walked way - seeing the Porsche - yes, it was definitely totaled. The AGR Acura was up against the tire wall having collected one of the wheels which departed the P1 car. Took a little bit of time to clear that shambles - took cars thru pit line while they cleaned the track after manuvering the pole lights adjacent to the race offices facing up the hill to see to pick up debris..Also saw the Corsa Zytek up on the tire wall earlier in the day. Turn 1 and Turn 12 were the ones with lots of action. On board of deFeran showed him at 144 mph at the apex of turn one. . . the guys were haulin'.

We were over at spectator hill for a little while - the hill was packed with folks - more than last year.

It was great for all the teams to come from Europe to race their cars - they really seemed to appreciate the "thanks for coming" comments we gave them. After the race I was elated when Jaime signed one of his podium hats and said here, this is for you. Thank you Jamie and Mika for a great race.

Bruce was there in his IMSA vest and I am sure he has some awesome race photos - hopefully he will share them with us. Great to see you again Bruce!

So now on Laguna Seca in a couple weeks and it's all over until March (it will seem like an eternity). What will 2009 bring ? ? many chances and great racing and, oh yes, hopefully more sportscar fans on FChat.

    Carol

Oh yes, did I say it was an AWESOME weekend??!!

Michael, I have learned that alcohol affects the hearing, so everything sounds different. It also affects the comprehension result of a post on the internet.

They actually had Club Patron set up like a nightclub. We had a few $9 margaritas. Here's a few more. Everyone had PLN stickers somewhere. I'm not sure if the last 2 are modified or stock.
