With heavy rain falling according to RLM, we have a thread to discuss the action on track.
weather page for Braselton. looks like more rain in the afternoon. Plan for a 10-hr race, not a 1000 mile race? fuel mileage over raw speed? http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/golf/hourbyhour/graph/USGA0069?from=interactive_topnav_golf
In the past, rain has benefitted Audi, but I think it was more in the initial setup. Knowing the rain is coming might make things interesting.
Hindie on RLM was saying the Audis were blowing more fumes from the exhaust than previously. Chasing power perhaps?
Everyone goes slicks as the Klaus Graf spyder spins its wheels helplessly on the wet grass off track.
dry track, people are starting to get aggressive. making hay while the sun is shining (or, at least between the downpours)
John Field and Gil deFarren get together in a crash with possible championship implications. That resulted in the Acura going behind the wall and the Lola AER going into the penalty box. The Lola was fastest on track before the incident but much slower afterwards. Thirteen minutes to change the left rear suspension on Gil de Farren's car! Fantastic work by the mechanics. Luck - McNish was about to send a 908 down a lap when the Doran GT lost rear bodywork and a full course caution saved Pedro Lamy's goose from being cooked.
David, Yzee is sitting next to me just finishing lunch here! Guess we'll go out for a walk, misty here above the paddock. Interesting race so far - full course caution for ford, it least they didn't crash into someone! Allan in pit.
Rain stopped were stspectator hill. Hindy said more rain yipee now top of eases and lt rain. Michael, Yzee, should be able to post some great photos! Carol pls excuse typos!!! Pugs closing on Dindo, one Pug needs to get past Dindo to get his lap back.
Tire off viper before it hit wall in front of us car is a huge mess on drivers side. Tire ca e up hill then rolled back down. Fantastic battle in gt2 . Wx radar has lots of red and yellow coming. Shoes are now red clay colored! !
Very good racing so far! Hope you guys are staying dry and enjoying the race. Glad Sharp is ok after that big wreck. GO AUDI!
Heavy rain is back, looks like a boat race! Small off by Peugot, McNish doing well in the rain. EDIT: And the Audi's are spinning in the same corner.
Red flag at 4 hours and 50 minutes with corner workers reporting lightning. Nice to see a Ferrari doing well!
Still coming down hard but not the monsoon it was. Heading down to pit lane, with 2 Becks in my pocket. I'm dry as a bone cause I got full gear.
What a miserable 2 weeks of rain we've had in the Atlanta area. I was going to go to Petite Le Mans on Fri with the option to check out Sat, but got sidelined. Now I have no worthwhile option for Sat other than watching it on Speed, which isn't half bad. I don't follow this kind of racing as much since the Group C monsters were put to death, but I'll cheer for anyone that can beat the Audis. And of course, I always cheer for the F430s.
I and my son were there until about 1:30 PM. It wast mist or sprinkles all along starting at 9:00 AM. Kinda peeved that they wouldn't allow us to park in the infield even though I has prepurchasesd an infield pass. I was told it was full. Walking into the trak with a backpack two chairs and a 3 1/2 year old isn't my ideal of $40.00 worth of parking. I'll call on a refund for the parking and hold my breath. I guess we missed the bulk of the rain. I perfer viewing red flag races from my couch anyway.....
45 min and restart wanna take bets?at least we are in the big tent dry awaiting dinner. heard on scanner H saying 8 min under sc would be 50%
They wont restart. There's 2 hours of draining and clean up to do before it could restart according to RLM. Apparently since the clock has continued running it will be declared completed whether it restarts or not. An hour and a half 'till clean up could start, they're now saying.
tend to agree at this point. maybe run the cars under the SC for a photo finish, but I don't see this going back to green.
