This thread is a petition for the Lamborghini Factory to give Valentino Balboni one of the 250 LP550-2 Valentino Balboni Edition cars. It is only right that the company that he dedicated his life to, repays him with one of the cars that he has helped develop. Mr. Balboni is very appreciative and honored to just have the car named after him. I think it would be nice to go one step further and give him one to call his own. Please help make it happen. I have created a group on Facebook to also get more involvement. By joining the group you are signing the petition in Valentino's favor. There is no one more deserving then the man that has driven more miles in a Lamborghini than anyone else in history!

Please show your support in this thread or if on facebook please join the group!

What makes you so sure that they aren't giving him one? A nice idea, but I highly doubt it will make much of a difference.
Afterall, I am sure if he wanted one, he could have one.

I told him that I would do this for him. We all agree that it probably will not make a difference. But it is always better to try and fail than not try at all! :)

Why is it that a major company has such a hard time in letting one of it's most valued employees receive a gift of gratitude for his contribution that has enhanced the company's stature many times over?

Balboni has given to Lamborghini far more than it has ever given to him. If Wankelman had a shred of decency behind him, Balboni would have a special car above and beyond the special edition offered to the public. Balboni is second only to Ferruccio himself in the history of Lamborghini. Why is it so hard to credit him with his contributions to Lamborghini SPA??

That is why you can comment here as others did. The more awareness the better.

I don't know if they would be so quick to give out a $200,000 bonus to any of their employees that have been there that long. That's a heck of a precedent to start.

Awarding a car to a person if they are the sole ambassador of the company for the past what, 30 years? - seems like a reasonable precedence to me.

Excuse my ignorance...but I would think that he would be making enough to afford to buy one the normal way. Also does Lamborghini license his name or does he still have control over that. I would think that if he wanted one and he owned the rights to his own name he could have negotiated that with Lamborghini before signing off on the 'Balboni Edition'.

They should give him one. If they don't it looks like the company is just using him.

I don't think Lamborghini will do any other edition using the name of any other employee.

As said, Valentino Balboni is a legend in Lamborghini world and that's why they are doing a special edition using his name. This way they should show that respect giving him the 1# car of the Valentino Balboni Edition.

The intro car is #0 so perhaps they should give him that one instead of putting it in the museum.

Valentino and I spoke about this a while ago. I really didn't feel comfortable posting this on the internets. I hope he ends up with one of these cars before it is all said and done. Balboni is the Michael Schumacher of Lamborghini, and a fantastic man; a great story teller :)

Not only should he have one of these cars, he should have chassis #1 or #250.

Kinda disappointing to hear that Lamborghini isn't giving him his own freaking car.

I think it would be a tragedy of monumental proportions NOT to give him one of the cars that bear his name.

Lamborghini and Audi are plenty big enough to afford such a gift and even if the "company" wouldn't do it then one of the executives, that I'm sure got a giant bonus, should pony up the dough as a gift to a loyal friend. He should be given sn #001. Period.

I may never be able to afford a Lamborghini but I can afford an Audi and I pledge that I will never so much as set foot in an Audi dealer if he doesn't get one.

Lamborghini is OBVIOUSLY giving him one...to think otherwise is just INSANE...

From what i hear and seen in interviews Valentino is a funny and comical guy...he most DEFFINITLY was just joking around when he said "he wanted one" , he probably has the test mule car of the LP 550-2...
