You mean when he was lapping a back marker who destroyed his race? I think it was justified. Alonso has done worse.
I was hoping for the upset. Perez taking the checkers would have been historic; Fernando picking up a lucky win is nothing to write home about. Ouch, talk about a backhanded compliment. Mark
I agree. I like Perez, I think it would have been a hugely popular win (a bit like Alesi in Montreal in 1995) plus, Perez doing well in F1 is good for America (Austin GP) as much as it would be for Mexico.
LOL! yeah good point in the years that F1 was at Indy easily 1/3-1/2 the crowd was Brazilian or Colombian (when JPM was driving in F1). Perez will bring a lot of Mexicans to the race...whether they're from Mexico or South Texas
Right on with this comment - they don't call him the "tire wisperer" for nothing in Switzerland - he is under contract with Sauber through next year but don't think they will be able to hold him past this year if he continues to develop like he has. Great, great driver with even better backing out of Mexico.
Perez is a decent driver but I would not call him great by any stretch yet. Kobayashi has been a much more solid performer. Perez made some retarded rookie mistakes last year, and had it not been for his financial backing I'm sure any team in their right mind would have dropped him.
I just hope Ferrari won't be proud and get carried away with the race result. Of course, perfect pitstops, flawless strategies, massive pressure, i'm not taking away anything from the team. However, i do hope they acknowledge the car is a failure. The tricky conditions and Fred's mastery in those conditions got the win. Not the design of the car, and heck, definitely not the raw pace of the car. Ferrari must not rest their laurels now. They must step up and build on this win. Everyone knows it was a fluke win. With China looming, and the possibility of another wet race, Ferrari must execute another flawless strategy to get an early season advantage. I just hope they don't let their guard down now. Edit : For all those technicians on board here, i kept reading and reading statements and articles that Ferrari's main flaws are the exhausts, as well as the push or is it pull rod suspension. The suspension is really hurting the car's pace. Anyone else know about this?
Oops I got my timeline confused but looking at this replay I don't see how Vettel is not to blame. He had already given him some space. Vettel is known for driving into people. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqVGEO0Yp9k[/ame] Image Unavailable, Please Login
simple judgement error nothing more nothing less. Could have been avoided easily by Vettel. Lesson learnt.
Backhanded or not I agree with you . Yes the Vettel incident was another error on his part for not checking his mirror. I think Seb is getting alittle frustrated with the RB's performance, he is not accustomed to NOT being on pole. Oh well it is a long season and anything can happen.
Good/valid points - he definitely had more than his share of issues last season. Probably should have prefaced with "is going to be a great driver".
IMO, he is not a front of the grid quality F1 driver and never will be. He should have won that race in Malaysia, and if he were better he would not have spun out. All the greats have had rain races like this where they were nothing short of remarkable 100% of the race. All the greats were also phenomenal drivers from the word 'go' during their respective rookie years. Senna, Prost, Schumacher, were all phenomenal from the get go. Perez is not that. Definitely not with the crap he pulled last year.
How can you say that with a straight face? That is just a ludicrous statement, imo of course. It is ONLY his 2nd year in F1 so cut the guy some slack!!! Senna, Prost and Schumacher all made errors costing them a race win.
