http://www.worldcarfans.com/110022324722/petrov-insists-hes-not-number-two-driver Let's see, he does not qualify on his own to be an F1 driver ,he has to buy in(for 15mln Eur) instead, yet he thinks he is not going to be second to Kubica? Funny guy.....
I wouldn't give a rat's bottom-side for any driver who didn't think he was or could be better than the other guy. It's called "competitive spirit" and as far as I am concerned, the more they have, the better.
Petrov was darn fast in the test runs so who knows, he might have it? Most drivers have to buy their way into F1. If they don't pay the money themselves, somebody else did. Even a Michael Schumacher had to buy his first F1 session. As for Kubica: He is good, but so far I'm still on the fence: He hasn't annihilated Not-so-Quick Nick. And the Renault won't improve his overall resume either. If he doesn't destroy Petrov, his days in F1 might be numbered and he'll be driving for Virgin or Campos next year.
I donn't see the issue on how good Kubica really is. For me, he just gave BMW it's first win. Nothing much. He wasn't impressive to watch, he didn't destroy his teammate whatsoever. So i agree on Andreas's analysis on this one.
He was a candidate in 2008...until after BMW's first win and they decided to develop one of the worst car's of the past decade. I believe that if the car continued to be developed he could have won it. He was incredibly consistent and was in the title race until the second to last one... He didn't impress me at all in '09 though, which was a shame.
Petrov is a stiff. If you ever watched GP2 he was a midfield driver at best. in 08 he finished 7th to Lucas DiGrassi's 3rd in points in the same car but DiGrassi managed it after missing the first 6 races of the season. In 09 he was second to Hulkenberg, well done but the field was thin talent wise. He finished in front of DiGrassi this time but the fat burner engineering car was a crap box. I'm luke warm on Kubica myself, but I doubt Petrov will trouble him too much.
+1. They (Renault) don't expect too much from Petrov either, just 25% of Kubica's points to remain in the team (contractually). His backer's money were more important then the talent itself.....
Lauda bought his way in also so nothing new there....if Petrov didn't think he was better than Kubby then Petrov has already lost...Kubby won Canada 08 cause knucklehead Hammy took Kimi and himself out so Kubby still has lots to prove himself.
T-im pulling for Renault as I don't want to see another manufacturer pull out. Hope they can grab some podiums but doubtful as competition this year promises to be massive-thank god for we fans. I'm hoping Ferrari takes both titles in the last race after a titanic struggle.....
Not sure who's better than who but man, I can't help but point out that I've never seen two uglier SOB's team up before. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know, the lower half of the face looks a bit like Lauda. Not that Lauda was a beauty BEFORE his accident (let alone thereafter). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Per the last test; R. Kubica Renault R30 1:23.175 107 laps Vitaly Petrov Renault 1m22.523s 68 laps Maybe he's right !?!?
Nice argument, but I have given up interpreting the test results. They might no longer be sandbagging, but there are too many variables in play to come to a conclusion. In fact I would even recant my previous analysis of the first test session. Only qualifying will show us where we really are. Thank God for no refueling!
They're not the most handsome couple either, but I wouldn't make out with any of them. Something struck me about the Renault fellas though. Petrov looks like he just crawled out a crypt. And Kubica would look better if a truck hit him.
