For those of us who are somewhat tired of hearing others knock the design of 348s, here's what Phil Hill (yes, that Phil Hill) said in the Jan. 1990 issue of Road and Track.

"Those who viewed the 348 at Frankfurt last autumn, however, saw only the beauty of the new automobile. Impressive as that may be, what we saw at the factory in Maranello a few weeks later added to the excitement of the new model. The fanfare surrounding the 348 is justified. As a total package I like the 348 a great deal. The shape says "Ferrari" and "performance" in a flash."

I've always thought he was a highly intelligent person of discerning taste. :)

Thats also in 90 when it was the current hotrod.

But the 348 is one of my fav ferraris. Just love the 80s look. A sleeker lighter testarossa.

    True!/Yes!

I saw a black/tan 348 spider today at Bobileff's and it's hard not to love these overwrought '80s cars. I actually like the TR more now than I did when it came out. Nostalgia, maybe.

IMO, the 360/430 are are bit long and bulky looking - the proportions on the '80s machinery are more exotic (44-46 inches tall).

I think time will be good to the 348. Not that it will always look contemporary, but rather as a wonderful peroid piece-- a snapshot of 80s chic. It has more of the tradmark Italian flare than most of the later cars, which are a little too prefect. The 348 is modern, yet bridges to gap back to the days of cantankerous but soulful exoitcs.

    so true

i love the look of the 348....the last 'raw' looking Ferrari IMO

dont getn me wrong 355 is gorgeous, but 348 just has that extra bit of 'hard edged' look to it
