    Browsing through a book at a bookstore and it quoted Phil Hill stating the 355 is one of the 10 greatest Ferraris ever right up there with the 250GTO, good thing he doesn't visit this site to hear some of the negative comments about the motors valve issues here:)

    WHEN was he quoted? Many said that when the cars first came out...now they say that about the F430 or whatever... ;)

    I think Phil's comments (and the 355) will stand the test of time. Yes the 360 and 430 are superior machines, and who knows what's next, but it's bound to be 'better'. But....the 355 is the last tie to the old Ferraris. Not too gimmicked up, not so damned big. Just a Ferrrari sports car. It's as close to a 330 gts as you're going to get for under $350K.

    I believe that if Enzo were alive today he would praise the virtues of the 355.

    In terms of performance, the V8s have only gotten better--but in terms of aesthetics:

    355 > 360 > 430

    The 355 is by far the most beautiful in both sight and sound.

    I completely agree. It looks, sounds, performs, and even drives like a Ferrari should.

    Went for a ride yesterday and came upon a red 355 convert, driving these cars you don't see what they look look like going down the road it was nice to see another, 355s are so impressive and beautiful from behind with that wide rear and the huge 5 spoke wheels look so nice in motion, wow is what I thought.

    Did the factory ever fix the "valve" problem or did it continue all the way through the entire run of cars? As I'm considering purchasing a 355 I'm naturally curious about the problems associated with the 355's.

    It was from the January 1997 R&T issue in which they tested the F50, 456GTA, F355 Spider and 550 Maranello. I think he named the 250GTO, 500TRC, F355, maybe 550 and I forget what else. But regardless they were the then current models. I can check on Nov 10th, when I get home, I have the issue.

    Yea, that sounds about right. I thought i still had that Issue, but i had no luck finding it :mad:
    I can blame my Mom for throwing away $500K+ in Sports Cards, but this 1 is on me :eek:

    Yes, it's great to be out in the 328 looking at everyone else's exciting beige Camrys. Would be nice if a few of you 355 guys would get your cars out a bit.

    I agree, I just put over 300 quality miles at or near the redline this weekend here in SoCal :D.

    Also when I drove through the neighborhood drag, there was a nice rosso F430 spider parked along the street...... unfortunately sitting in the hot sun not being driven..... :(

    Why does every thread need to be dissected into this?

    Phil Hill made a simple comment about the 355 take it or leave it.
