Quick question: I'm getting ready to have the tires switched out on my 308. It still has the ORIGINAL Michelin TRX metric tires on it. I already have the new tires in my possession so I just need to have them mounted on the rims, balanced, etc.

There used to be a mobile tire company that would come to your house but I think they're out of business. I'm probably going to just have Discount Tire do it but, before I do, wanted to see if you had any other ideas. Let me know.

The "new" tires are actually old (but perfect) Michelin TRXs so I can't risk having them damaged....they're too expensive and too much of a hassle to risk it. If anyone has had a great experience with a tire shop, please let me know.

    Thanks.

Yeah, the mobile place was great. Had them do tires on our turbo Porsche years ago and it was fantastic. It stinks that they aren't around anymore.

I asked a while back and the consensus was to use Wheel Specialists, but they are down in Tempe.

If you do go with Discount Tire I would use the one on Scottsdale Road near Grayhawk. It is right by the corporate headquarters so I would hope that they would have the best people there.

The Discount Tire at Pima/101 did a terrible job on my M3 last time I went there. Put impact breaks in two tires (after the accidentally changed the wrong rear tire), plus they nicked up a rim.

Wheel Specialists in Tempe is the only place to go. 480-968-1314

Believe me it's worth a bit further of a drive. Any place else is just a tire shop.

These guys deal in the highest of high end stuff so put your mind at ease and go here.

    Ask for Darren Young.

    Cheers!

I've used Discount for years and they have always done a great job.

If you want to really improve the handing of your 308, get a set of 16" wheels and your tire choices open up markedly. I had a Euro QV 308 with the TRX set up and got 16s with some better tires and it was night and day.

Thanks. I almost went the 16" route but decided to keep the car 100% original, even if performance is compromised. Lets face it: it's a 308. It never WAS fast! :)

If I remember correctly, I gave the guy I sold mine to the choice of wheels... since I had both. He took the 16s and I sold the TRX set for a pretty good price. Since the 16" Speedlines were an option, it kept the 'originality' thing.
