    Thought you guys might enjoy this photo taken in Germany in 1945. Dad was 23 at the time this photo was taken.

    Hard to imagine all those 23 year olds out flying P-47s against the huns!

    That is a great shot, Taz. It shows two things, the immense size of the Jug and the cool braveness of those young guys who went into the war at full throttle and never flinched.

    Wow, 23...hard to imagine at that age. I know what I was interested in at 23 and it had very little to do with defending the country.

    The USAF made a serious mistake, by sending the F-51 and not the F-47, to the ground war in Korea.

    The F-47 had two more fifties, it could carry a heavier load under the wings, and the engine could sustain some AAA hits, due to the radial design.






    Another smart idea, would have been to purchase new Douglas Able Dogs, that were already in-production. Of course, the Air Force would not want any Navy aircraft.
