I hope this is in the right spot...

I have been shooting our vacation in France, but have lost a bunch of photos. I had around 400 on an 8 gig card, but then it all of a sudden said I only had 16! I think I screwed it up by turning the camera off too quickly after taking a shot. In any case, does anyone have a recovery program that is their favorite, or one I should stay away from?

As soon as I had the problem, I bought a new card and stopped using the corrupted one.

I may not get back to this thread for a while, this is the first time in a week I have been able to get on the internet.

    Thanks Guys!

I had a similar problem once and just took a chance.

    I used this programme..

I had mostly success. I recovered all but 3 pictures. That was around 70 pics or so.

But since I have only tried this once I have no idea whether there is a better programme, or if the above is really bad LOL
Just that it worked for me :)

Whatever you do with your card, make sure the write lock is enabled so you can't overwrite anything that might still be there! Some programs may want to alter the file structure to make the lost files visible again after checking the file system, so don't forget to release the lock again ;)

Thanks guys! I'll look into that program, though I probably won't do so until I am back in the States.

As for the card, I have completely stopped using it and have taken it out of the camera for now.

    Thanks again!

BTW: We are now at a little B&B in La Hisse with a great view of a lock on the river Rance.

    Au Revoir,
    Bill
