Hi, My name is Alan, I live in Italy, at about 90km far from Maranello, and I'm a 3D professional modeler. In my spare time I'm modeling the 512s "coda lunga" which raced the 1970 Le Mans 24h. The car is the yellow #12 owned by 'Ecurie Francorchamp'. It's chassis #1030. The model is really detailed with most of mechanic parts created. Here some renderings of my work in progress: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/323/scocca23wg9.jpg http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/2964/scocca19jv8.jpg http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/2735/scocca22fe2.jpg http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/5330/scocca18cl9.jpg http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/3140/scocca24vs2.jpg Some other details, such as the engine: http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/5365/scocca14ge4.jpg http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/9499/motore16mx9.jpg http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/2624/motore17rg9.jpg Sorry, I'd like to insert thumbnails, but forum doesn't allow me to use tags! So, I'm looking for images of Ferrari 512s/m, specially of the engine bay and interiors. If you have photos, or you know some links where to find them, please post them here. Thanks in advance! Alan Guerzoni
Try these sites: http://www.evil-photographer.com/cars/ http://www.scaleautosport.com/porschetn.asp?racemodel=512S
http://foundation.ecuriefrancorchamps.com/ I'm sure they have it in their archive, which is one of biggest in the world. Maybe if you ask them nicely they will help you.
Thanks to all! - @ teegeefla I didn't know thw second link: good photos of some interesting detail - @ AlainS. Good idea, but I'll prefer to show to the foundation some renders of the model already finished. Mostly I don't want to involve Ferrari spa directly on my project. It's my "political" fear because, some years ago, a really good and known scale modeler decided to ask informations and photos of the "coda lunga" directly to Ferrari, and they refuse to give him. I don't know if I'm exagerated, but I want to use only my forces to do that! - @ davidgoerndt I'm a Lightwave user such as you! I saw your website: the carrera is really beautiful Thanks! Alan
Yes! It is! I found exactly it here on the forum, if I'm not wrong. Do you have other photos? Thanks! Alan
Oh my God, you're David Castelhano, the author of the original photo! Excuse me but I didn't notice it! Glad to meet a great photographer who lived personally that great period and captured some of most gorgeous race cars ever built! Alan
I have some information on the frame I can share with you as well as some mechanical details that may help you. I sent you a private message with my e-mail address in it. Dave BTW: Beautiful work!
Hi Alan, Really, really nice work! I look forward to seeing where this goes. Please keep us informed. Jon
Thanks DHarm for the precious infos and details you shared with me! I re-modeled completely the front chassis and the cockpit body, and added some details, such as radiators: http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/3226/scocca45ik8.jpg http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/7735/scocca46xg4.jpg http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/9193/scocca47hp2.jpg http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6606/scocca44xz5.jpg Now I can finally model the interior! Alan
Hi, Do you have images of the interior and the cockpit of #1030? I don't know what's the correct cockpit shape between theese 2. I think that's a mixture with the #1 gauge panels and #2 top cover. Some infos or photos, please? Ciao! Alan Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alan, I believe photo #1 is a 512M of 1971 and photo #2 is of a 512S of 1970, like 1030 you are modeling . The interior of the M was lightened by removing as much material as possible including the dash covering and using a lighter dash panel. Beautiful work. Gramps
ALan, why don't you mail Jean Guikas, he is very helpfull s/n 1030 http://www.guikasgtc.fr/site/cars_sale.asp?detail=684
Thanks! Probaly I'll try to contact Jean Guikas to have extra informations and images (I hope...)! Here you're my last renderings: - radiator grill - chassis vue - chassis vue - chassis vue - how many rivets?!
Found yesterday: http://automobile.2405.com/automobile_gallery/Ferrari/512_S/index_zh.html Fantastic gallery of a 512s completely opened in high resolution. Thanks to the original photographer to share his material! Take a look at it! After seeing the photos, I re-modeled a bit the nose, changing radiators, cooling system ducts, and other minor details. Renders as soon as possible. Alan
