Anyone been tagged by one of these yet?
    Details?
I just did a longer road trip, and was thinking about this at 2am last night in the rain, going through the construction zones on 294 north of O'hare.
Where are the cameras mounted? I had heard "in a van".
    Will the Valantine One help?

These systems are common in Europe (I hate to tell this, but the company that invented them was located in my home town, arggh). Any decent radar detector should give you a warning. But then again any radar detector will go off anyway by all the other devices placed around a construction site.

Given the draconian fines I always maintain proper speed in a construction zone, yet am being passed all the time.

In Arizona there is no radar to get the speed reading for the photo tickets. It is a set of sensors in the road that time your speed and when it exceeds 4 mph or something over the limit the cameras take your picture. So a V1 or any radar detector will not help.

That's then like the traffic light cameras in Europe. Remember to say "cheese".

Ok here is the deal: Photo enforcement is done by the Illinois State Police. They actually sit in the white van and wait for the radar to go off. They then photo your front plate, your face, and the rear plate. They should have all three to make the charge stick, although some judges will let them slide without one of the plates. A failure to get your face is the very best defense. The troopers preset the radar to notify them, some troopers are cool and set the radar to notify at 15 plus, while others set it lower and are punks. If you are convicted of this offense your minimum fine is somewhere north of 300 dollars. However, you are eligible for supervision and therefore will not accumulate points on your license. Best to hire a traffic attorney if you get one of these. Preferably, hire me. And yes, a Valentine will help...a necessity in my book.

Welcome to FCHat, notice you have a Maserati..very nice.

I have yet to see a van in any of the construction zones, but I've been watching my speed.

Try for Augustino's on the 17th. There's a thread about it in the 'Chicago' section.
