I went to breakfast after our local DuPont Car Show in St Pete... and had a chance to park my 987 next to a new 981 Boxster. I'm a fan of the 987's retro style and sexy curves ( see last photo, designs origin? ). But I'm sure the 981 will also be a big hit for its more modern approach. I've always enjoy a good set of side-by-side photos for picking out the differences. How big are your rims, 14"? Haha, actually I like your rims, I'm making fun of the monstracity 20" on the new car, which look nice too, but I think rims are getting a little too big.
Mine are 17 inch... and I've spent too many years admiring Ferrari and Porsche from the 70's and 80's with 14-16 inch wheels... so I joked to my dealer, that I'd only buy a new 981 if he'd let me put smaller wheels on it
LOL... I-take-it that you are talking about the girl in the last photo? On a side note... I'd love to lower my car but its a daily driver, and the taller ride height has saved me twice already from debris in the highway during rush hour traffic.
not a fan of the rear spoiler going through the taillights, but otherwise I love the new Boxster. great looking car. nice ass shot too
Speaking as a 987 owner, I do like the new car although I wish they had left it the same size. The more steeply raked windshield is a big improvement and the upturned butt as opposed to the old droopy butt is a plus as well. Dave
Spied- 2013 Porsche Cayman in Las Vegas [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_oxSymFqSo&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
I saw it happen more than once when I lived in Vegas. I also saw several camo'ed cars on the highways outside of town, but still in very high traffic areas. Mark
I see it all over west LA/Santa Monica as well (and I saw a prototype of the current ML in the Nevada desert a few years ago). hiding in plain sight....or wanting people to snap pics and put up teasers on Jalopnik....?
Looks great, now all we need is a Gt3 motor instead of the weak limped stuff porche will saddle this car with to keep the 991 nee 928 sales premium.
I bought one of the launch cars a little over a month ago. The new 981 is fantastic. Porsche has done an excellent job on this car.
Here is a rendering of the new Cayman I just found on Facebook. I'm in love. If this is what the new one actually ends up looking like (it most likely will, probably with some small changes), it'll be the best looking car in the Porsche lineup. Image Unavailable, Please Login
As much as I'd hate to say it.... I might actually consider one! This is coming from the biggest Boxster hater of all time! I've always been a huge 911 fan (air cooled). However; the new 911s are 2 door Panameras
I think that's Guess, not Gucci...but I could be wrong. As for the rear end on the car, the new ones seem a little too "swole up" for me in the rear, but maybe I'm just biased becaue I have a 987. I wish I'd gotten the Caymen instead of Boxster though as I like the shape better.
I guess the jellybean look is what we are stuck with, but I prefer dat ass on the 930 turbo's. Classic and means business booty. Wide stance from the back , with large tires and exhaust tips I think looks better than the melted Hersey's Kisses look we have now.
