Nearly had a bird strike on takeoff roll.. Nice early Sunday morning for a fly and went past the famous Mount Panorama circuit where it plunges down the hill.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
..also at the airport that morning was a DC-3 staying here for a short period before off to be in some movie somewhere! Interesting use of half a 44 gal drum slung under each engine.. I finally have a photo to post!! Did my second SOLO X-C this morning: McKinney to Tyler TX and back. It was very smooth until I returned to McKinney. Coming down from 4,500 to 3,000 feet I suddenly hit turbulence! The plane dropped, then suddenly ballooned up while swooping to the left, then to the right, then down, then up, then I lost track and "just flew the plane!" Oh my!! Here is a view of Lake Tawakoni on the way back from Tyler. And one of me with the plane (C-150) at Tyler. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats on the successful XC! sounds like you did the right thing with the turbulence "fly the airplane". The airplane is stronger than you would think and can take a lot of a beating.
Yes indeed MKE. Had never seen AF1 so when I figured he was coming into town decided to take a quick break from work to find out if I could see it. Looked over to my side to see it landing, was pretty awesome. Jeff, I'll thank you then, used to get stuck at those when I'd commute to Kenosha frequently!!!
Had to shoot my first real missed approach at Buffalo Minnesota tower is while flying the missed approach Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cool, Tamas! The dealership where I take the wife's car to get cleaned is on the glide path to DFW, and while they're cleaning the car, I just like watching those enormous planes landing. I've taken my fair share of physics classes, and I still don't see how those contraptions fly! 😃 T
Starting the day with an early morning local flight just because it's a nice day.. and before my navigation endorsement training kicks off at 9. Also bought a DeLorme InReach as I plan to go remote and rugged progressively but as soon as I can. I like the 3rd level of SOS it offers over ELT and EPIRB and the 2 way messaging and tracking anyone can do in a web browser to see how you're going and where up to. (uses Iridium satellites and promises pole-to-pole coverage) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If I'm ever at that way with a client I'll let you know! Who knows I may be working at that dealer at one point.
