United AirLines (in the US) used to fly the 146 from Denver CO to Santa Barbara, CA. Flew them quite a few times. Seemed like a long flight for that plane.

I like them, think they're attractive.

I once flew a United 146 from Islip to Daytona Beach, stopping at Dulles en route. (The flight number changed at Dulles, but not the airplane!)

It's the only flight I've ever been on that had an aborted takeoff! We had just started accelerating down the runway at IAD when the pilot abruptly cut the throttles and pulled off the runway. He said something about a warning light. After running up the engines a few times on the taxiway, we headed back to the runway and took off on a normal flight. I guess the warning light was the only defect.

Does Lucas also make electrical systems for British aircraft? :D

How long did it take to fly over there? Was that your first cross country in the Eagle?

I sincerely hope not! The mere thought terrifies me! ;)

I certainly wouldn't get on an airplane if I knew it had anything supplied by the Lord of Darkness to make it work.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Way cool!

Can't help thinking it beats the hell out of dealing with a few hundred pesky humans & their luggage too! ;)

Did you ever fly on a DC-10, MD-11? They had Lucas electrics.

I flew on quite a few 10s; never had a problem. I avoided the 11, though, after a couple of them flipped over on landing.

Got a brief ride in this yesterday for training.... I went last so I could take pics from shore. We got dropped off out in the water then took turns being hauled in by a rescue swimmer and then hoisted up to the chopper.

In the event you ever find yourself in the water being rescued they make it pretty easy. We got briefed ahead of time to just let the rescue swimmer do all the work because he knows what needs to happen. They kinda float you into the rescue basket and then it was up up and away. The basket can spin quite a bit which might make some people sick. I had a can of Coke zipped into a pocket that I cracked open on the way up just to say cheers and give the winch operator a WTF moment as I'm getting pulled in.
