    Hi,

Am familiar with Photoshop 6 but i have a perplexing problem. Have a many layered advertisement done. Now i want to keep the MANY layers but resize ONLY the white background so i can then move around my layers to accommodate the new size. Searched the Web to no avail.

    Please help.

I suppose you could enlarge the Canvas and resize the white layer to your liking ... not sure I understand what you want though ...

Ok, i have about 20+ layers. Most are small images i moved around.

The problem is the Main background image. It is set at a cetain size. It appears i can not change ONLY the background image canvas size. When i try resizing the background image it also affects all other layers :(

Nah you just use the 'canvas size' function, increase it the amount you want, then resize your background image to fit. The only thing I can think of is that the background image you're referring to might actually be set to be your background layer...does it say 'background' in the layers menu? If so, simply double-click the layer in the layers menu and it will ask you to rename it. This will change it to a layer you can move around and manipulate. The actual background layer is locked, so you don't want that... regardless, this sounds like a 5 second fix.

If you can't get it figured out, post a screenshot so we can see what's up.

    Robin,

Thanks will try it. In the meantine i found a workaround by staring a new image and copy/pasing the layers. ALL help is ALWAYS appreciated.

The way I do it, if you are talking about resizing a particular layer, just select the layer, CTRL+T and then resize from there, hit enter when done to apply the changes. Right click for further options. There are some advantages and disadvantages to doing it this way, so it might work for you.
