I don't think you going to be able to do that with Photoshop, at least I can't think of any way to do it.

If you know adobe illustrator, what you can do is create some vector lines, in this case hundreds of them, in the shape of hair for example. Then you can hold down the TEXT tool and click on the one where the letter is on the line. You then click on the line and start typing. The text will follow the path of the line (and the line wont show up)

Repeat until it looks like a picture.

I would have thought it was hand made.

Not sure if its how most people do it or not, but If I had to do it, it would be the way I would go about it. it’s a very simple way of doing it. if you did it by hand, or word for word, it would take for ever.

Hope you have a very large and creative vocabulary, because that's gonna take a lot of words. :D

Yup, no photoshop, my roommate last year had a Bob Marley one with the Marley albums instead of words.

    Found a website:
    http://www.lapopart.com/product.asp

I want to buy some now. :D

you can always create a layer for the image and another for the text, lighten the image and begin typing over it on the "Text" layer.

    lots of work though...

To get the text to bend with the image would require the text to be written along a path though. You can do that in PS, but I'm guessing this is either Illustrator or someone with a sharpie and lot of free time on their hands. Nice effect though.

Since it's for your gf, I'd go the handwritten route. Assuming you really dig her that is :)

Of course. Compare the single characters to each other. No 's' or 'l' is like another one.

Yes you are....I use most aspects of the adobe software professionally and I can tell you there is no simple way to do that. most of the samples listed are hand made. you can do it digitally, but there is no automated feature to just "generate" that kind of work....thankfully for me ;-) based on some similar projects I made in art school, a large piece like that would be a 20-40 hour project for something respectable.

although...you should definitely check out one of my favorite art school past times (especially if you have an abusable office printer): the rasterbator

Man, that sucks. Not being rude, but are you saying that each piece on this site took 20-40 hours to make? http://www.lapopart.com/productdetail.asp?Ident=98

    If so, damn

Thanks though. I guess i could hand draw it then import it into illustrator and blow it up as a vector

btw, this was my dorm wall last year:

    Awesome website! I love rasterbating
    No joke, its addicting

    :D :D

I am going to waste my ink, or just use the school printers and spend 4.50 for a 10 page poster.

those didn't take too long, they don't have much detail and the colors run through rather than around words. the marley one posted in this thread, on the other hand, took a very long time.
