    How do I make a picture so that the car is in color but the background is in black and white? Thanks!

    Mask the car so it is not affected by any change, then turn the background into grayscale, or desaturate.

    Though someone posted a dramatic night shot once, haven't seen anyone implement this very good idea. To ease the job:

    Copy the main subject of the objet'd'art, including any "excess" -

    Paste it anywhere, as it's now, (or will be, if you park, er, paste it on a new "canvas" to be safe or sumpin') Layer 2.

    Choose Layer 1 (the original), fine tune color, or lack of it, to your liking -

    Choose Trim excess off Layer 2 & reposition.

    This leaves you in control.


    Though this is unretouched, this here's an old pic of my buddy Carbon with Jay Leno in CA. - note Carbon maintained some semblance of normalcy while the psychedelics kicked in.
