As most of you, I'm glad the season is over, mostly so I don't have to watch any more Vettel victory parades. Boring, predictable and disappointing races for Ferrari enthusiasts is what I come away with from this year's circus. But, finally, somebody does let it all hang out there and does what really feels good no matter what the consequences may be from uncle Bernie's minions. Here's to Mark Webber for taking off his driving gloves, his helmet and his balaclava and driving for the last few miles hair in the wind and tears streaming down his cheeks!
Can someone help a technoklutz like me and post a pic here of Mark's last lap for posterity?

Did you miss the donuts Vettel did previously?

    Speak for yourself.

Whilst the winner was predictable, the rest of the field was full of action most of the races.

+1 there are other forms of racing that have more action. Some should explore one. I expect more or less next year what we had this year. 1 or 2 teams up front and the real action is behind them.

If it is actually closer and more competitive up front - then it is a bonus! I will watch no matter.

I completely agree - a bad F1 race is still better than a lot of things!

I've said many times that just because the winner is almost pre-ordained it remains my #1 choice.

    What the 'it's boring' crowd seem unable to grasp is;

1 - F1 has pretty much always had one or two dominant teams. They rotate around, but we've been incredibly fortunate that a few of the championships have gone down to the wire over the past few years. Look back and that's not generally the case.

    2. Just how close they *all* are! Talk about 'hero to zero' in less than a second! Outside of KI's utter domination of quali (which is slowly turning me into a somewhat begrudging fan  ;)), the others are incredibly close and generally mixed up too - We've often witnessed *five* manufacturers and three different lumps in the top five spots for the past few years.

It remains the pinnacle, and will therefore never be 'boring' IMESHO. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

I think one of the thing Webber's helmet-less run struck home to me is that these cars really are good looking race machines, very mean & lean, just the safety helmet tones it down to look like an appliance/robot. The car looked WAY cooler driving around the track with a guy with Mark's chiseled appearance at the wheel.

I got flamed for suggesting taxicab racing or the WWF a while back! ;)

For having taken his helmet off during the slow-down lap at the end of the Brazilian GP, Mark Webber received a penalty of 5 places on the starting grid for the first 2014 GP.

I beg to differ, if you look back to 1990, 15 out of the last 23 seasons have been closely fought title battles.

Because it was a stupid comparison, for lack of a better way to say it...

Let's be honest, all that matters is the championships. Who really cares if Force India beats Sauber for 6th in the championship? I couldn't remember that result the next week much less a few years later. When the championship is a non-factor, it sucks a lot of the life out of the sport.

LOL. Were they hoping the penalty would be carried over to Le Mans? :D

Seeing a F1 car being driven by someone without a helmet looks very very weird.

Domination by one team is a bit boring, but quite rare. In most years, the number of dominant teams is usually around three. Consider 1973, for instance, when all the races were generally won by Lotus, Tyrrell or McLaren.

One year, McLaren won all the races in the calendar, bar one.
15 wins shared by Prost and Senna!
    That, I call domination!
