What a great car to work on!

Constantly looking at this thread and today I felt it’s time to share a pic of my Giallo.
I started her up for the first time in 2,5 years...

Oh - the smoke is oil burning from the exhaust headers. Had to oildip the glass fibre bandages before wrapping. Literally a major PITA to do that job! If you are planning to buy a pair of headers and have them wrapped - take good advice and pay someone to do it. All those fibres stuck in your skin will keep you awake at night... Believe me...

Looks like my old 275 GTB next to your car...know anything about that one? Mine is somewhere in Europe now.

How long did the smoke show last? Also, why did you need to oil dip the header wrap?

It lasted for about 30min. I knew it would smoke and smell but figured that it was easier to live with that than all those fibres stuck in my skin (don’t get me wrong here - you still get a lot of fibres in your hands and so, but just not as much).

The oil also makes the bandages easier to handle. It helps to get them as tightly wrapped as possible. You need to keep the band stretched at all times which is kind of hard due to the bends and so on.

Very often the wrap gets loose over time, you see. That’s the effect of not wrapping hard enough (and something I like to avoid).

Interesting! This was in the Cotswolds in England. The 275 looked beautiful, restored but not over restored. Right hand drive. Looked pretty standard except perhaps the exhaust but I'm not a 275 expert.. I can try and find out more from the hotel's owner if you think it may be yours.

By the way...four days of high summer tearing through English country lanes in a gated 430 Spider - few things come close. Much, much more fun than the same journey last year in a press 488 Spider. No comparison.

Thank you, and glad to share what I do to keep it looking like this...

The only thing I use 303 (30308) Aerospace Protectant for Plastic, Vinyl, and Rubber, which can be bought at less than $10 @walmart. Which I use on everything in the engine bay, just rub in with a microfiber cloth and agitate with a small detail brush in the fine hard to reach areas and then wipe off excess.

But that being said, I have to stay on top of it as it is driven as often as I can, such a thrill and joy to drive.
