    A major would include spark plugs and air filters among other things. How was this a major?

    Belts, most likely.
    Any mope can change spark plugs on these things in an hour.

    That seems like a lot for belt service. FoA quoted around 3800 for a full major.

    Exactly...and one of the perks DIY is not paying the outlandish prices for an easy job, and assuming they didn't go back an time the engine to factory specs, the belts probably wouldn't be much longer than that either since they are easily accessible...seems the OP paid much more for half of the job. $5k is ridiculous for belt swap.

    You're forgetting the service was completed in the wonderful state of Kalifornia. *Everything* in this state that's car related is about 2x what you would expect in a "normal" state. Indy pricing is astronomical, dealer pricing is eye watering!
