Remember your camera!!! Sounds like you have everything else in order. Enjoy the day, you will remember it forever!
Yes. Step on the middle pedal when you want to stop. Very important! Seriously though... it is just another car when you get down to it. Enjoy the ride!
Congrats on the new car!!!! It sounds like your good to go... Don't forget to post pics when you can...
What good is a camera when its battery is dead So remember to charge up your camera battery too. Congrats!! Enjoy the ride back home!!
No revving past 3000 rpm until the oil is up to operating temp. Then never let it drop under 3000 rpm and keep your front wheels on the ground
I picked up my 348 Speciale in Greensboro, NC and drove it 770 miles home solo in 11.5 hours this spring. A few photos I kind of relish from the trip you may want as well: -Me with the car at Foreign Cars before the drive -Picture of the odometer when I picked it up and when I arrived home -Picture of all the "Welcome to .... State" signs I passed through -Picture of all the "sights from the road" while on the drive -Picture of it sitting in my garage at 11pm wet and filthy after the drive home Congrats!
Great ideas here. Congrats by the way to flyguy, welcome to the brotherhood, enjoy every minute of it (which I have no doubt you will), and post the pics ASAP! Have a safe trip home and can't wait to see it!
Not trying to rain on your parade....but I am working in South Western Wyoming (Rock Springs)right now and I fly home Saturday out of SLC. The weather in SLC Saturday is sunny and 50s. I-80, through Wyoming, however, is still currently closed between Laramie and Cheyenne and will most likely be closed as the storm is dropping more snow and 40mph wind gusts tomorrow. SO...PLEASE try to find a way around Wyoming rather than taking I-80. From a fellow enthusiast, I think you will be grinning from ear-to-ear the ENTIRE drive home!
A few random thoughts... Make sure the tool kit, books, spare keys, etc. are present and accounted for. The front fog lights/turn signals lenses are incredibly expensive and hard to get, make sure they aren't cracked, and if possible, put covers on them before driving on rough surfaces. Make sure the wheels are mounted on the correct sides, people will snicker if they're on wrong. Learn the correct procedure for checking the oil level, don't overfill it by checking it cold! Don't drive it with the handbrake on (it's happened!). Check the wiper blades, don't ruin your windscreen with bad blades. Check the torque on the wheel lug bolts (should be OK if it was just serviced, but check anyway). Remember, there is no spare tire, and no jack, and no lug wrench provided with the factory tool kit. And the factory-supplied can of fix-a-flat is about 15 years old, so don't trust it. Be prepared. I carry a new can of f-a-f, plus a tire plug kit, plus a battery powered air compressor in my trunk. Carry some terry towels in case of top leaks. Chances are it will be totally fine. Enjoy!
The gel don't forget th.....................wait what am I talking about...........DUH........ You bought a 348 no gel required Have blast mate enjoy every second of the drive home cheers
hey whats wrong with GEL...i have a crazy woofty frohawk thing going on with my hair so i NEED the GEL....covered!LOL ya i looked at the road conditions and i will be driving back sunday so looks like I80 will be good! i hope supposed to be in the 40-50* range sunday. just have to take it easy! will grab some fresh fix aflat and a tire plug kit when i get to SLC. thanks guys you all are awesome.
well things change in life i guess... called from the dealer....as they were performing the final checks they discovered the regulator inside the alternator is faulty so they ordered a new one...BUT it wont be done till tuesday! unfortunatly i have to be back to work monday! so looks like im going to fly out to SLC for the weekend, hangout, see my car...fly home monday... they are going to deliver the car to me and fly home sometime next week i guess! AAAAAAAARGH hope all of my ownership is not this edgy! im right on the edge of just calling the purchase off?!?!?
Wait WHAT!? if something like this makes you think of not buying the car, then maybe its not the right car for you, it sounds like your looking for an excuse to not buy the car. getting upset is one thing but not buying a ferrari due to an alternator regulator? thats another.
Congrats! If you've done your due diligence and it's the right car it's worth the wait. These cars require a little patience but in the end it's well worth the wait. You will forget about it as soon as you sit in that seat and start her up. Cheers!
i flew out anyway and looked at the car. this is the 3rd car i purchased from them ...its just frustrating. this was my only chance till spring to get away and drive the car as it will be stored almost as soon as i get it home. that is why i am upset. not the fact that the car needed some work. i understand they take some maintenance but this was all planned out with tickets hotels etc.
Sorry Dude it must kind of feel like Christmas when you want to open your presents on the Eve but your stupid Sister ratted you out for peaking and then Mom starts to yell at you for being a spoiled brat so you hit your sister then your Dad smacks you upside the head and you go to bed without supper..........err I mean that sucks
