Picking up my Ferrari in one week - recommendations requested

Just a tire repair kit (for nails) and air pump of some kind.
I keep one in every car.
If the battery is old... jumper cables.

Everything else is beyond your control.
Just like any other car.

 

+1 for Fix-a-Flat. I might plan to do an hour of driving around where you're getting it, just to be sure all systems are go before you get on the freeway.

I'd make a note in your phone of the dealers and independent shops that are along your route, unless you would just truck it the rest of the way. I've done two 1500+ mile road trips in my old car and at a certain point you just have to let go and accept that it might cost a few bucks to tow it somewhere. I had the numbers of a few Ferrari mechanics en route in my phone just in case.

BTW plan to take some back roads occasionally. It's a fun adventure.

If you bought a 250 GTO we'd be talking on another level and you wouldn't be driving your car home.

Both of these comments. 360's are relatively modern cars. Out of two Italian (three at one point) cars and one German my 360 has been so far the most reliable.

Have you taken a road trip lately? Have you had a windshield replaced on your pride and joy lately?

Personally, I'd have the car shipped.

A spare FOB battery and jeweler's screwdriver to open the case is not a bad idea. I also keep the instructions for starting with the code in the glove compartment. Never had to use this myself, but actually bailed out another 360 driver at a gas station once.

I keep a compressor, a can of fix-a-flat and a plug kit in the trunk. Should do for most tire problems.

If it's any help, we've put over 15K miles on our '04 on road trips without any difficulties. Car is an absolute joy on long trips.

I will suggest a support vehicle. Something like a U-Haul, stock it with a nice complete set of snap on tools, four floor jacks, eight jack stands. I would also carry a spare fuel pump or two, a water pump, complete range of fuses, two sets of timing belts (you will be putting more than 100 miles on the car after all) several of those high power flashlights like Dog the bounty hunter likes to carry, and probably figure one oil change along the way. Consider transmission flush and fill.

 

I'll second that; perhaps a truck large enough to hold all of the above + a second 360, to drive in case the first one needs to be pulled in for maintenance.

 

Don't forget to pack your camera to take pictures and just have a great time driving home, you will never forget it and will always look back on the time with great memories. I did it 11 years ago and do not regret the trip from Salt Lake to Denver one day, it was just another great adventure and ear to ear smile!

I like the idea of driving it for 30-60 minutes locally before hitting the road, just to make sure there's no problem (possibly known by seller). If nothing goes wrong in that time, hit the highway and have fun!
