Thanks boys. If anybody does photography, may I know how to bring down the yellow tint during shooting? I tried several white balance meterings but could not. The street lamps are mono-spectrum orange & everything looks orange @ night.
Beautifully taken photos mate. And the most beautiful car on the planet in a stunning colour. Jon, I thought pornography isn't allowed on this site.... how on earth did you slip these pictures through!!!!
A couple of amazing cars there. I love the shots from the 50mm lens especially. As for the orange cast... As you have discovered, the white balance presets on almost all cameras are pretty useless, especially under streetlights. What you need to do is take a photo of a greycard in the same light you are shooting in. Then go into 'custom whitebalance' in your camera's menu and select the photo of the greycard. What this does is give the camera a point of reference of how the light is affecting colours, and it will adjust accordingly. This is how the pros do it usually. more info here: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Gray-Card-Review.aspx The other thing you can do (and easier, if you have photoshop), is set your camera to take photos as RAW instead of JPEG. (for nikon i think they call it NEF from memory). Then you can use CameraRAW (part of photoshop) to convert the RAW to a JPEG. During this process you will notice a slider to adjust white balance, so you can make it look completely natural, or very orange, or somewhere inbetween. Fast, easy and very versatile. You can also adjust sharpness and a bunch of other stuff when converting from RAW, and you will also retain more detail and more faithful colours, because Photoshop is much more powerful and versatile than your cameras built in processing. Hope this has all made sense for you! The D80 is a great camera, enjoy it!
wow, those are beautiful. could i have the secon one down in the second post hi rez? rem3sam @ gmail.com thanks!
Jon - any idea how much that F430 has been lowered. The F430 comes sitting ridiculously high from the factory and even after settling the fender gap is obscene. The car in your pics rides at a perfect height (from an aesthetics standpoint) and so was wondering if you knew how much it had been lowered, or could find out. Have heard a "good" drop is 10 - 20 mm. Thanks.
cool photos! as some people mentioned there are a few techniques to solve the color issue. best would be fixing it during the shoot, using a whitebalance card. some trickery is possible in photoshop, but you really need a lot of color information or a raw file. shifting the light temp curve with small amounts of color information (8-bit image) creates a lot of compromise. Hey Richard, thanks for the tweaked image & information. I haven't tried raw yet, looks like I should enrol in some classes to learn more. Wow. Some fantastic pics you have there. Are the prints for sale in inches? May buy to decorate my home. Do you use filters?
There are some good books available, although they aren't necessary. check out this article on how RAW works and what it is. That should get the ball rolling...there are lots of good, easily accessible tutorials on photo site for how to process RAW images. Prints on my site are listed in inches, larger sizing available on request. I use a combination of lens filters and software filtering in post...all depends on what I'm going for
