So, in post #15 - did I see Challenge wheels on one California.................or was I drunk? Those are the wheels that I would want. As for color (and everything else, for that matter:), beauty is "in the eye of the beholder".

    Cheers,

    Hank

Seriously, the California is a shocker. . . seeing it in pics along with 599's and 430 scuds makes it look even worse.

It looks like something a Japanese manufacturer would produce. .

    Sure that wasn't a 599 w/ challenge styled wheels you saw? I didn't see a Cali w/ challenge wheels.

    Right Dave,

Next morning - - with coffee in hand, I looked at those cars - yet again..........
And I thought to myself as I gazed at the photos............how different perception can be, going from last night to this morning.

    (I'm - for sure, not a poet - - they're just random thoughts :)

    Smile & be well,

    Hank

Car looks a lot better in natural light than under the stobes at the motorshows and with the diamond cut wheels most of these cars seem to have.

Surprisingly I find myself liking the yellow too.

What is the 'windscreen' ?? Can you point one out in a specific pic(nice pics, btw).

20+ yrs ago, did the tour of the plant with my sister(cameras allowed then). On the way out, we
were standing by the front gate when an F40 'took off'. Snagged a pic of that, was quite a treat.

Just another name for the windshield. :) Californias have an option of either having body color, or blacked-out pillars by the windshield.

    Thanks for posting the pics!

As I look at them roll out for their road tests, I can't help but think that Ferraris really are mass-produced products now. The exclusivity that existed 35 years ago, and which makes vintage Ferraris so unbelievably rare and sought after, is long gone. This isn't to denigrate the products at all (far from it). But I think Lars witnessed a number of months worth of 1959 production in one afternoon!

25 cars a day is the current production, I think.

If Ferrari made 1 car a day, that would be less mass produced. The price of the car would be 25 times more too? One off cars selling for 4-5 million each?

    Interesting to think about...

not sure about production but according to their financial reports, they sold under 5000 cars in 2008. assuming they sold all they could make, probably the case, thats about 20 per day, and you are probably right about 25 per day since they are closed in august

P.S. Grey & tan is one of the best color combo, IMHO.
