Oh my. Thank you Lars. Wish I'm there now!

Is it easy to navigate around these Italian cities? I'm planning a trip to visit Lambo, Ferrari, Ducati, Pagani etc sometime this year or next. Would you have a reccomendation on car rental/hotel/restaurants? I'm thinking of renting either a 997 or Cayenne but figured maybe an Italian would be better ;)

    Are the street signs helpful?

    Hi Erick,

My camera is a Nikon D70 and I used a 55-200 mm Nikon DX lens, which I bought just one day before leaving to Italy (the lens, not the camera). Both are very nice for taking car pics.

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Well, to start with your last question first: no! Street signs are chaos in Italy! They are not always logical and often there are way too many of them! My recommendation would definitely be to buy a mobile navigation system for this trip (my TomTom worked perfectly in Italy, also downtown in big cities like Milan). These are not very expensive and will save you a lot of fuel, time and stress.

I can't really recommend any car rentals, since I have always used my own car in Italy. For Maranello, I can recommend the Planet Hotel, which is located directly opposite the factory and above the Ferrari Store. Good restaurants in Maranello are of course the Cavallino (next to the Planet Hotel) and Ristorante Montana, which is located just after the bridge driving by Fiorano exiting Maranello. I hope this helpes?

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Thanks Lars it sure helps. I have a palm size PDA with satellite navigation but I'd need to load European maps on it. I'll PM you again when the trip's coming up.

BTW, great photos. Really enjoy them, thanks.

P.S. I've just bought a D80 & an 18-200mmDX VR+SB800 flash unit but need to polish up my skills. Hope to use them on these trips.

You have a sharp eye and are correct.

    So much for "factory original".

I'm currently in Sant'Agata for a couple of days. Today the two Countachs (LP400 , 25. Anniversario) returned home from the Techno Classica in Germany. Took some really cool pics (LP640 in white...) and I'll post them here as soon as I'm back home. The weather is way better than back in Feb...
