I thought the Abarth types among us might like to see my new car. It's on the boat from Holland to the US. I'm looking forward to seeing it! It's a 1961 Abarth Monomille Scorpione, an aluminum body designed in-house and built by Beccarris.
This was intended as a street car with a 1000cc pushrod single cam motor with a fiat 600 block. The wheels are in-correct, they should be like the ones in the picture next to the other Monomille or steel wheels. There were very few built and only about 13 to 15 are known. Many were raced successfully, as was this one during one period. One picture shows it at a race in Holland. Another picture shows the car next to another Monomille in Holland. If anyone else has one or knows of one I would like to hear from them.

No, I don't have any plans to race it, possibly some track days, but mainly street driving as it was intended.

    Scott,
Awesome find! I too have the Abarth bug. A Berlina Corsa and a double bubble. Kudo's to you for taking it on the street. Just be careful that people see you in their big SUV's. What wheels are you looking for? I do have 2 Campy 12" wheels, that I think would be correct for your car. Not sure if I want to sell them but.....................Please let us see more pics when the car gets here.

I am probably going to put the steel wheels back on the car. They are coming with the car.
    Thanks

A little late but.. Wow, what a great car!!!!
A pity that this (original Dutch) car has left our country, but that happens.

Did you receive the car already? I would love to see more pictures!

Yes, the car is here in the US now. The windshield was cracked and I have to put the replacement in, but as soon as I do, I will post some pictures of it. It is a neat little car, very lightweight and nimble handling as a result.

Congratulations on the beautiful car, Scott!

Hopefully the windshield has an obvious sign of impact from a rock or other flying object. Zagato-bodied cars are known for cracking their windshields due to flexing in the body/chassis, and stress being transferred to the glass. Does this car use a rubber seal, or is the glass held in place with metal tabs that are screwed around the opening (like my old Lancia Appia Zagato)? While the glass is out, be sure to check for cracks in the roof pillars. The picture is the right front roof pillar in my Flavia Zagato - the windshield was cracked due to the stress.

    Jeff:
Thanks for the windshield info. The windshield was cracked before I purchased it, and I have the old one. I'll look to see if there is a place where a stone impacted it. It does have a long crack, as I remember. This one uses a rubber seal, unlike the zagato ones with the metal and wood pieces. The interior is all in the car so I don't know if I can see if there is any crack in the windshield frame, but I will investigate this. Does anyone know if I should use a siicone sealer behind the rubber seal to the body for keeping water out of the cabin? I have never installed a windshield and I would like it reasonably watertight.
    Thanks,
    Scott
