Disagree. Not silver. 1079 GT was restored 2016-2018 by top restorer Rexford Nguyen Restorations in Marina del Rey and painted Grigio Conchiglia MM 16249, exactly as born. Axel Schütte Fine Cars displayed it at Retromobile February 2020. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Years back Gerald Roush of the Ferrari market Letter featured in the FML a detail summary of the Series I Cabriolets, reportedly incorporating translations of the hand-written Pinin Farina production logs. He noted 1079 as the Turin Salon car, colors shell gray with red interior. Grigio Conchiglia (shell gray) is a lighter silver gray. If the photo posted is the Turin Salon of 1958, as I have always understood it to be, especially with 1015SA in the background, then agree that the color of the Cabriolet appears much darker than Grigio Conchiglia. Not the first time a factory record is mistaken, or the car could have been repainted before or after the color was recorded.. I do not profess to know the correct explanation.
The Torino Motor Show took place from 5 to 16 November 1958. According to the factory build sheets the completion date for the frame of 1079 GT was on 8 November 1958. Marcel Massini
And that is exactly why I did NOT respond here. Welcome to REPLICA thread...........(see also my comments to Andrew Menasce....). If people only did their homework prior to just quick and dirty posting. Copy and paste is the new world we live in......... Marcel Massini
Now, we know the car at Roelofs is a complete replica but the silver colour on 1079GT doesn’t look like the 1958 Turin Show car. I thought grigio conchiglia was darker than the colour on 1079GT today.
Here's an unrestored, very genuine and original Grigio Conchiglia MM 16249 Ferrari 250 GT Coupé PF. Roof is Grigio Fumo MM 16672 with interior in Verde VM 8370 Connolly. The S/N is 1927 GT. Compare with pic posted in #2626. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful car !! I didn’t know the Grigio Conchiglia was so light. Thanks Marcel. Then, this colour doesn’t match with the 1958 Turin show car...
Three Ferraris were shown at the 40th Annual Torino Motor Show in November 1958. L to R: A NON-grey 250 GT S1 Cabriolet (NOT 1079 GT), an unidentified standard 250 GT Coupé Pinin Farina (in the center), and 410 Superamerica Coupé #1015 SA. However, right before the beginning of the show that non-grey 250 GT Cabriolet S1, was substituted with another, one-off 250 GT Coupé Pinin Farina #1017 GT with covered headlights (the special for Gianni Agnelli/RIV SpA, pic below). So there were effectively two 250 GT Coupés plus #1015 SA. Most photos were taken PRIOR to the opening of the motor show and do not reflect what was actually shown publicly. The identity of the 1958 Turin show car puzzles me. The serial number range leads to 1075GT but I don't know if the gold colour on the car today is the original one...
1075 GT was displayed (in its original Andalusia Gold MM 16265) during the 43rd Annual British Motor Show held at Earls Court in London, 23 October to 1 November 1958, which is the motor show just prior to the Torino Motor Show starting 5 November 1958. Just four days in between. Marcel Massini
1958 Torino Motor Show, dark painted Ferrari Cabriolet on left was replaced with 1017 GT prior to the opening. 410 SA on right is 1015 SA. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do you think the Turin Show car could be the same than the Earls Court car ? Never seen a pic of the Earls Court car !
See post #2640. As said, during the official/normal 1958 Torino motor show NO S1 Cabriolet was displayed (none). There had been a dark painted one for the press shooting PRIOR to the opening but not for the normal show starting 5 November 1958. Marcel Massini
The original Max Meyer color Oro Andalusia MM 16265 is not gold in the traditional sense that one would expect. It is a medium dark metallic red-bronze. It is a very beautiful color. The restored gold color of 1075GT does not match Oro Andalusia MM 16265.

Agnelli, a man with impeccable taste missed the mark w the black borranis(and also wearing the watch over his sleeve cuff).
Well, the watch wear was his style trademark. He was one of the few men who could carry it off…and even for him it was a bit much. But who would tell him?
