I think the Bonhams description has a typing error ... "sold by first-owner Gatta to Evasio Arcangelo Ricaldone, "born in Pomaro Monferrato (Province of Alessandria) on the 3rd of August 1982" - Pretty sure Mr. Ricaldone was not born in 1982, given he bought the car from Mr Gatta in 1966.
Wrong? I was asking (?) , not stating fact. ...... So is "Grigio Camping Italver 19249 Nitro" the color it is painted now? Ok, so now it has original engine. It did not in 2014. Thanks for the info .
Both wrong. As I said it was repainted before delivery into Grigio Marrone Italver 20563 Acryl, the paint it is now. And the car came with the original engine in 2014. But it was not installed in the car at that time. Marcel Massini
Evasio Arcangelo Ricaldone, the second owner of 3615 GT, was born on the 3rd August 1892. He was 73 years old when he acquired it on the 18th of April 1966. Marcel Massini
Some cool photos below in the video by Keith's Classic Garage 1777 GT Spider Nembo http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/1777GT.250GT.Coupe.htm
I did a two part article on the Nembos in FML spring 1998. Drove the two spyders very briefly, 1777gt in Geneva, the other at Moroso, not on track and rode in the Berlinetta...in the snow in Gstaad even more briefly! All part of a future book chapter.

Any idea if the color change was due to request from the buyer or … ? Any idea why the chemistry change, i.e. acrylic vs. nitrocellulose ?
Apparently original owner Ferdinando Gatta didn't like the original paint and had Pininfarina repaint 3615 GT prior to delivery (26 July 1962). Marcel Massini
Thanks. Does any one have photos of any cars (any make or model, incl. Ferraris) in midst of pre-delivery color changes from back in the day ? I've often wondered how extensive efforts were afforded to some of these types of jobs, especially if the car was already completed. How far apart was any given car taken ? Was the initial/original color just sanded/scuffed and covered over or was is thoroughly erased by stripping it down to primer-fillers ? Were all the glass, doors/hood/trunk lid, exterior trim, upholstery, weather strip, etc removed or mostly just masked/taped ? I could see minimal efforts being employed on lower cost "production" cars, but what about high priced one-offs, etc ?
The site Racingsportcars.com (which is pretty reliable) lists a regional race for class AP on 05.09.1965, a national race on 06.09.1965 and again a regional race on 10.10.1965: Thompson - List of Races - Racing Sports Cars without providing a lot of detail (only a few results). Unfortunately Harris Hanscom is not in those results list for both September and October. Perhaps Willem Oosthoek knows more?
My GTE was repainted at the factory in 1966. It was a pretty decent job and the glass was taken off, it seems. Pretty easy job to do properly as the exterior color is basically an overspray - engine compartment and trunk wwere painted satin black, and the painted interior pieces are all separate parts. Special cars were in several occasions repainted for display purposes. This is why I think there may have been an initial plan to show 3615 in Turin Salon, and for the purpose it needed a respray as showing a used car would be out of the question for numerous reasons. Well developed narcicism existed in early 60's too. but I still think it is a long shot for a customer to have required a respray for not liking the color, it was just a car after all.
