Unfortunately, its 100% legit. Its right off of Sutton Images, who is "the" guy for F1 images.
These pictures were taken during the recent test at Jerez.

Doesn't look bad at all to me. Reminds me a bit of the cars from the late eighties. And as long as it will make overtaking easier, I'm all for it.

You won't see the fins and spoilers on the side of the body that make the cars look wider. The front spoiler is simpler, more like the old days. And slicks.

In the Spanish version of F1 magazine there are some comparative drawings that do not seem to appear in the English version. The car does not look bad at all.

Is it me or does the new wing sit higher? :confused. If it is, I suppose it gives better air flow to the rear wing, so you really don't need a larger one, and it moves it away from the diffuser which would make it not as effective. It also would open up a lot of spaced for airflow off the body.

We'll see if it helps with providing cleaner air for the car behind.

    In a word, YEP.

There can be ONLY one "perfect" design-- automotive nirvana. Only one design can give the best of all worlds, slippery, great down-force, etc.

AND it will be the uglyist thing no one here can possibly imagine. You are all F'd as you have a preconceived notion as to what a car MUST look like (to be cool). You are all probably very wrong (odds have it).

I wonder who will throw all caution and styling to the wind first and "go for the gusto?" New game, "Who wants to be a Gazillionaire?" and design the perfect car. It is patentable. Bill Gates...move over.

We are a long way from the very best design and they (current F1 Teams) all seem to be playing a game of lame "Mickey Mouse." Right now F1 is so old in design when it should be looking like Disneyland. Sort of like the US Navy. Many years of tradition unmarred by progress.

Oh, and spare me the recent 25 years of slight progress. WOW me tomorrow, today!

    I'll check in in 20 years .....................................

NHRA did it. Well over 40 mph increase on average (280 to 320+) in the quarter mile in the past 10 years. Lots of room for F1 (of which I am absolutely no fan) to improve.

Think outside of the box, people; looks be damned.

Based on the helmets in those renditions, either the cars are going to get much bigger, or they're going to have chimps driving them.
