Wow Carla, congrats on a great turnout! When I woke up it was pouring rain here, I figured most events wouldn't happen due to the weather.

If a little Sunday drive outperforms a prestigious national event, then I think it should be time for the organizers to question their strategy.

I love FCA National events, but they could improve a few things:

    - place it in Spring or Fall so A/C isn't an issue
    - place it somewhere near human civilization, a concours in the middle of nowhere is not very interesting nor is a drive through a country side devoid of any landmarks (sorry guys, but the pictures from this year's Canada rally are most unimpressive)
    - loosen up on all the restrictions for tracking, or make touring laps available with few restrictions (e.g. like touring at Gingerman)

I'm so looking forward to next year's event and I'm sure our guys will do a lot better job. Indianapolis was a fantastic event and showed how it could be done. Washington D.C. IMHO was pretty bad. I wanted to participate (even had made reservations), but when I started to read the fine print on what was required from me and my vehicle, I passed.

I knew that would happen with it being in Canada. Nothing against Canada but it is just too far for most.

I have a feeling next year's event at Road America should draw quite a crowd. Especially with the ability to get out on that track. I will be there.......

Norbert must be holding out the good ones. I can understand Dave and me failing to match your photo abilities, after all we are just hacks compared to your eye. In fact I didn't take any. There were some good spots, but with the glare off the dash, it just wouldn't work. (Learned that from last year.)

Buy yourself a polarizing filter for your camera to remove the glare or, put the camera in your left hand and stick it out of the drivers window. Note: If driving a right hand drive car, use your right hand and stick it out the right window! :D

This ain't about photography, this is about a boring landscape. Just look at the thread on FChat about the event where some top notch fotographers (way beyond what you or I can do with a camera) posted their pictures: Even the best shots showed cars in front of bushes and trees. Yawn. If we want that scenery, we can go to WI or MI or just stay in IL.

Not to pick on FCA, but that's the part I really don't get: You have a Nationals event in Washington, but the concours is in the middle of friggin nowhere. They go to Watkins Glen and the same thing happens. Then they move it to Toronto (think the Toronto tower, Niagara falls etc) and all we get are cars on a golf course?

Look at FCA Nationals 2005: Driving through downtown Indianapolis, concourse inside the racetrack. Foto ops everywhere you looked! It can be done and I'm sure it will get better again next year at Road America and the area, which offers plenty of great locations.
