Is there anyone in the UK who happens to be near or would want an excuse to take their F355 for a drive out to Quaife Engineering? ( Vestry Rd, Sevenoaks TN14 5EL, United Kingdom ).

I have been researching ways to improve the steering when finding the OEM 'quick steering' rack is 'problematic'.

The conversation with Quaife has us wondering if either, they have the components to fit the OEM power steering rack, or, does one of their existing 'manual' quick steering racks fit, with some changes to the end pieces to make it all fit together.

I can find pics of steering racks removed, but nothing so far of one in place to see what room is available.

For the first check, don't they just need a bare rack? I have a spare and (very) occasionally pass by their neck of the woods.

Not sure, the question they asked was about how much space there was in there to work with/around.....I'll ask and see what they say.

I have a car with the quick steering rack; I can send photos if that helps, though in doubt anything is outwardly different from the regular rack.

Is it the Ferrari quick steering rack, or did you get something made?

    I have the FHP rack.

Pal of mine that’s driven mine and others without the FHP rack said there wasn’t all that much difference in terms of feel or weight. I will say that fitting a different , slightly smaller, steering wheel made a surprisingly big difference to the feel and the weight.

I have driven both (many times) the Fiorano rack and the normal 355 rack. I cannot tell one from the other in practical everyday use. I do enjoy the experience of a 360 steering wheel in the 355 a lot more. Between the changes, I would vote for the steering wheel than the steering rack.

I found the same, along with sorting out the reach. I have a 320mm Momo with a 100mm spacer which transformed my enjoyment of the car.

100% on the spacer too; I have the hill spacer (not sure how long it is), but it transforms the steering wheel from “too far away” to “just right”.

Sorting out the reach and size of the steering wheel makes a lot of sense....though seeing if Quaife can make an even better rack would be great for sure.
It's interesting that in day to day people don't notice much difference with the FHP rack, but, if Quaife can make them to suit, that's just gold.
