I was looking at some photos of a 599 and noticed on the passenger side dash a small plaque that said "Piece Unique". Don't remember seeing that before. Can anyone explain it to me?

    Thanks

Piece unique is French for One off. Shouldn't be applied to a 599, no matter how unique it is. P4/5 is a piece unique for example.

Why would the 599 have a plaque on the dash that says this if it is not applied to this car?

What i wrote was IMO. Maybe the owner thought his configuration was sooo different that it made the car unique. I havent seen the car so i dont know how unique it is. Unless it's a one off such as P4/5 or the P540 Aperta, i dont think a unique color or stripes or Crocodile leather etc... would be enough to call a 599 a Piece Unique.

This looks like a factory emblem on the dash. I know the color is a custom factory color. Here is the car. You tell me? You will see the emblem.

One thing I do notice that I don't recall from other 599 is the 3rd hole in the passenger seat just below the holes for a racing harness. I wonder what that is.

    I have owned a 2009 599GTB and 1 2010 599HGTE. I never saw that type of plaque before.

Never seen that before, nor have I ever seen what appears to be brown stitching or that third hole in the seat.

The stitching appears to be orange, or a very orangy red to match the paint.

I think the third hole is for the LATCH anchor for a child seat, hence the reason it's only on the passenger side.

Thats the only thing I could think of but I can't recall any 599 with it, maybe I just have not been all that into the 599 to have noticed it before.

The hole in the passenger seat has been in the racing seats for a long time for a child seat anchor. Rosso Dino is an out of range color, for which an owner pays a considerable sum, so the plaque may document the paint job.

I don't get it. Aside from interesting taste in stitching, there's nothing unique about this car...

A factory dedication plate has been optional on Ferraris for quite a while and you can put anything on it you want within limits. Maybe the owner wanted this instead of his name or initials. Here is an example from the 575M Scaglietti catalog.

Thank you Taz, that pretty much explains it. A nice touch I think.

I find the color to be Uniquely Ugly, to each his own.

Jim- And what is uniquely ugly? A color that only you dislike, but you had to share your dislike with us? I had a Dino 246 GT in Rosso Dino and quite liked it. Tastes, obviously, are not identical.

Car was optioned with the plaque. It is Dino Rosso. It's actually a very pretty car in person. The stitching does match the paint.
