Cavallino Magazine #50 had a great article on the collection and circuit as it was back in 1989 - One of the few I have seen published. Anyone know of other articles on the collection? Thanks, Bill
312P s/n 0870 was never a Can Am car. It is completely original and Bardinon bought it in 1970 from the Factory. 330P4 s/n 0860, however, was converted to a 350 Can Am with further cut-down spyder bodywork. Bardinon later had a completely new body fabricated for this car and it is currently in 1967 330P4 spyder form. The original body from 0860 is currently on David Piper's P4 "0900". -Jarrett
http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/0870.312P.htm I don't know really. As Barchetta says otherwise. As PB was a Hillclimb racer, I always thought he was at first interested in this car because it has been a barchetta at one point.
Notice how barchetta never calls 0870 a 'Can Am' car. Can Am cars raced under different specs than world sports car championship endurance racers. To run in the Can Am series, cars were either modified or built with lower cut down bodywork and bigger engines, among other modifications. That is what happened to 2 of the 330P4s, including Bardinon's. HOWEVER, 0870 did run in the Bridgehampton Can Am race in 1969, but I don't believe it was ever really converted to Can Am specs. By this time it was already a Berlinetta and that was how Bardinon bought it in 1970 at Le Mans. I would not call either the 312P or 312PB, a hillclimb car since neither even ran in a hillclimb to the best of my knowledge. They were endurance racers. -Jarrett
Hi, On the 1987 collection pic you can see 330 P4 0860. Next to it on the left you can see what I suppose is 412 P 0848. It seems that Bardinon didn't have the car in Scuderia Filipinetti livery. Is it that Perfetti brought the car back to original Filipinetti colors? When was the picture taken? At the Cartier Hommage a Ferrari in Paris in 1987? Regards, Wouter Bekker
There was a visit to the Bardinon Collection written up in an old issue of 'The Prancing Horse' Ferrari club magazine. Probably about 1975? I believe they mention in the article that the Ferrari factory gave Mr Bardinon an old 12 cyl race car as it was outdated... CH
I believe there was also an article in Cavallino about his collection. I don't know the issue's number, but can find it later.
Nice impression in that about riding the circuit in 330P4 0860 with mister Bardinon behind the wheel.
Some years ago, I visited again the Mas-du-Clos collection. There were still about 30 race Ferrari in the museum. Unfortunatelly Pierre Bardinon never allowed someone to take pictures inside. They who had the chance to see that collection can't forget it... It's just beautifull. Sometimes, he takes one of his cars for a few laps on his racetrack. That day, we heard the sound of a noisy V12... And there was it. Pierre in his P4... A gentlemen and a connoisseur in a great race car... Image Unavailable, Please Login
