It's that time of year again. Anyone have plans for a pinewood derby F car? We did the F1 car last year. So, I need something different.

We've won as well. Filing, sanding, more sanding, more sanding, polishing, more polishing, etc. Now all we need is a workable design.

Yes. However, nowadays to get the edge, you have to have the correct type of graphite with molybutylene or something like that. The good old days would include son #1 and drilling into my hand. Fortunately, I'm a little more careful with the tools these days.

We did the working lights one year also. I had a 57 chevy and my brother had a fire truck. I remember filling the grooves that came pre-cut in the wood(they were never straight) and recutting them. Polishing axels, and sanding tires to minimize the contact on the surface of the track. Amazing how much we (and everyone else) put into those cars for a cub scout race.

Being kind of harsh there aren't you. If they want to discuss building the cars here there shouldn't be a problem.

some of my cousins ran the last two years. they won last year and got second the year before. one tip they had was to make the car three wheel for less resistance. the car doesn't look as good sitting still with one wheel in the air, but it does go faster...

Didn't mean to harsh, but this thread belongs in Collectables, Literature, & Models, not Ferrari Discussion
