I'm new to this chat forum, and it seems there are some die-hard die-cast enthusiasts in here.

My collection is small, but growing. I've got 7 Ferrari 1:18 models, but there's one that I want the most. A few years back Pininfarina did a Ferrari concept car called the Rossa that was a modern interpretation of the classic Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa.

Unfortunately, the only 1:18 models of that gorgeous work of art cost a hell of a lot of money. Anyone know of an affordable version available?

The model you had in mind is the only one available. It cost al alot of money, but then you have a beatiful model! You can buy a build model and a kit (cheaper).

I bought the Rosso from Cavallino Models, an FChat sponsor. Yes it costs some money, but you can't get it anywhere else.

Since I also have the Mythos, I just had to have this one. And it is not even the most expensive Ferrari model you could buy...

Having seen the real car in the flesh I have to say the model is pretty darn good.

Basically yes. It was a design study by Pininfarina to see what is possible. The Mythos was on 512M base and the Rosso on 550 Barchetta base. I wish they'd made more of these cars, but probably the safety issue with the front window was one of the obstacles.

Regardless, the car did win several design awards. Rightfully so.

PS: My favourite design study of all times remains the Modulo. I wish somebody would come out with a 1/18 model of it. Cooles car ever built IMHO.

To everyone who took the time to look at my question and reply, I'd like to express my gratitude.

It's a shame that this most beautiful of Ferrari models is only made by one company. Nothing personal against the folks at cavalino models. I appreciate that they've brought the model to the market. But unfortunately I just couldn't afford to spend that much on a model. My collection in made up of Hot Wheels and Bburago (and one Tonka F40 from France)!

I hear you. I'm just waiting for the day (year or perhaps even decade is more like it) when 3D printers become available at consumer price ranges.

Absolutely. These cars are not just made to show off, but also to come up with new design details some of which make it into production.

Look at the Modulo and you can see the lines of a 308 and a Boxer in the making.

The models made by Look Smart, who did this car, are not all that expensive when compared to some other brands of hand made models. No knock against Cavallino, but it can be gotten for less money than the price listed on their web site.

Oops...sorry...I thought it was 1/43rd. Are all your models 1/18th? Do you do all your own masters, casting, modifications to existing die cast, etc? I'm not familiar with exactly what your company does

    Stuart,

Rosso Pininfarina model is made out of Resin not diecast. We only sell 1/18 and 1/12 scale Ferrari models. We custom paint models in all Ferrari colors to match real ones, add some options, and make custom decals. We also have in stock a lot of discontinued models by UT, Anson, Ertl, Revell, Mira, Giogi, Jouef and few more.

I am not as familiar with all the makers of resin and white metal kits and built ups in the bigger scales as I am with 1/43rd. Years ago, I was the first importer of BBR and some others into the US.

Do you have large scale resin kits and built ups made exclusively for you?

Most of the resin manufacturers in Italy (MDS, ABC, Rosso, MG). Some sell kits and build models, some only build ones. No one makes them exclusively for us. We just authorize dealer in US.
