Could someone shed some light on why this badge shows up on some 308's and not others? My '84 QV doesn't have presently have them and I'm wondering if it did at some point in it's checkerd past.
From my understanding all 308's had the Pininfarina badge. The only variant is that some cars had it on the left and others on the right. It was however not uncommon for the badge to have been removed during a re-paint, its holes filled during body prep, and then not re-installed during final assembly.
My car was repainted by a PO and the badge left off. I recently purchased and installed a replacement. I found the mounting holes by removing the left rear wheel well shroud and flashing a light between the body and driver's side gas tank. And BEHOLD! There was two hardened bondo drippings showing where the old holes were. A quick measuring transfer of the positions to the front side and an ice pick did the rest. No guessing where it goes. Bob R.
My '81 308 GTSi North American does NOT have the badge, nor any bondo'ed holes where a badge once was. To the best I can tell it was never in an accident (parts replaced) or resprayed either to explain the lack of any badge mounting holes. Querky things about these cars, things that make you say "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?"
