So I wrote L Fioravanti and told him I thought he was the greatest Ferrari designer as I have 2 of his car designs the Boxer andd 328 and asked his opinion on todays Ferraris as I told him the designs are lacking compared to his, his response:

    Dear Mr. R

thank you very much because you hold my "ferrari esteem"

As concern the current Ferrari I am always hoping in the next one we can see the innovation and class all "Ferraristi" are waiting.

As concerning Lamborghini, I think they are, till now as in the past completely different.

Thanking you again for your attention I remain and send best regards.

    Leonardo Fiorvanti

he enclosed a doc referencing Ferrari designs he was personally the designer and stylist

    Cool!

I have somewhere an interview with mr Fioravanti in which he states the Daytona-design is not without flaws. Self-criticism is ok, but is he kidding??

    Jeff,
That's pretty darn cool to get a response from him. First question is: how did you find his e-mail address? Second, is he still active in designing cars and working at Pinninfarina?

Also, personally, I agree with your opinion on current Ferrari design vs. "his" designs from the 70's and 80's. I think 308's and 328's STILL look unique and fresh after all these years. Can't wait to join the owner club... someday!

I agree it was very nice of him to personally respond.

He has not worked for Pinninfarina since the late 80s, his website is Fioravanti.it I believe, I found his email from their, It looked like he left Pinninfarina in 88 and went to work for Ferrari for a year til '89, probably after Enzo died in '89 he was outsted by the new Fiat management or left on his own accord as they received the remainder on Enzos stock on his passing and had full control of Ferrari .

Something interesting on his bio isthat he is the Italian Rally Champion for Classic cars <2000cc in 1990-91 so he is a accomplished driver as well.
