Some killer deals out there to be had.
    I'm picking up a FPJ1 projector MSRP of $9k for <$3k.
    Somewhat similar deals on Plasmas.
    Seek and yea shall find.

I was sad when the news came out. Like losing an old friend. :( I've been watching content on a Pioneer plasma panel since they came out. Don't know what did them in, but to my eye their picture was always superior. Heck I've still got an old PRO1000HD that's now the garage monitor and it's working just fine. Have the latest Kuro Elites in 50" and 60" as well and will probably pick up another 60" just for good measure since they're going to be gone.

What prompted the closing? Was it a lack of sales or lack of profit margins? They've always been a little on the high side, but the PQ was just unbeatable and in the last couple years the prices have come tumbling down. Regardless, was sad news for Pioneer lovers.

Damn it really is a sad day. I always dreamed of owning a 60" Elite since the first time I saw one.

Does anyone know if these $3,000 PRO-FPJ1 Elite projectors on Ebay are legit? Hard to believe a 66% discount.

Thanks a lot for the offer. If you posted that last week it would have been an impulse buy. But I'm saving to buy a house at the end of the year and that has to take priority, plus I really don't have anywhere to put it right now. I'm hoping these kinda deal are still here in December.

    Thanks again though.

FPJ1's will be gone in about 2 weeks. Pioneer has sold the last ones to distributors.
By December JVC HD10's will be close. At $3,800 now. Very similar but in some ways a better projector.

I guess my question is come Decemberish do you believe a better projector or similar projector is gonna be in this price range? I really want to pull the trigger on the Pioneer, but I know I shouldn't.

Lightguy -- Can you please email me with the details of the offer on the FPJ1 projector? Is the warranty on this legit if shipped to Chicago area? Thanks.

Its an authorized Kuro dealer. Full warranty if done by phone/ email and not bought on the net. There are only two authorized net dealers that I know of. I dont think ebay purchases are warrantied. Crazy rules.
    PM sent.

This is a killer deal. I bought two.

    Should be here Monday.

Almost ALL the Kuro Plasma TV's are gone.
Remaining inventories are getting close to what MSRP was back when they were introduced.
I just picked up the last Elite 151 60" in Dallas/Fort Worth at BB.
Some guy in Florida bought every 151 in the US that BB had. 80 sets. I'm sure he's going to scalp them.I located a demo and was lucky. If anyone is interested I'm letting loose my NIB 50" Kuro KRP-500M in Ferrariads.
I needed a 60" set for my veiwing distance/room size.
Panasonic bought the technology but may not produce them because of the costs and lower demand for $6000 TV's in this economy.

PS; Plasma TV is a dying technology. The Greens are killing it. Uses too much energy to run in comparison to LED and LCD's.
In truth its not so bad energy wise.

Plasma is considered by the aficionados and connoisseurs to be the best in real world viewing. I get a kick when my young nephew praises the newest LED's with their amazing 240HZ image. I asked him how fast plasmas were. Of course he didnt know because all the marketing is in LEDs.
Me; "How about 600 HZ ? Has been for years".
    :O

    Contrast ?
"Kuro" means "Black" in Japanese. Pioneer chose the name for a reason.

True the LCD's are taking over and that is unfortunate. I still prefer a good Plasma! The 58" Panasonic's are pretty nice but the Kuro are the BOMB!

Panasonic's latest Neo-PDP technology does away with a lot of that argument, using half the power of previous plasma tech. The power consumption is minimal enough in my opinion, to easily make up the difference in a superior picture quality.

You're talking about subfield, which is completely different than what the LCD's are talking about on refresh rate. Plasma manufacturers are listing the 600hz subfield as a trickery to make their numbers seem higher than LCD, when really they have nothing to do with each other. Plasma doesn't even have a refresh rate, or at the very least nothing measurable like LCD. Phosphor based tech is essentially always on.
