Briatore has finally pulled the plug on the useless Piquet. In Hungary he will be replaced by their test driver. Source: Swiss Blick's Benoit I said it all along, it was a mistake to hire Piquet in the first place.
I always thought of him as the least talented driver on the grid. If not for Alonso's need to have a sub-par team-mate he would not have enjoyed this latest run. But what really chafes me is his disrespect for his old man to whom he gives little credit. He forgot on which side his bread was buttered. He will quickly sink into obscurity. See-ya.
so it's everyone's last race ? ^^ interesting. Now, grosjean seems a real replacement for piquet, while i don't think replacing Bourdais with Alguersuari is a really smart idea...
Could be, the way F1 is tearing itself apart. Maybe if they told Max he could have the door smack him on the butt as he leaves, ... I'm thinking that the teams are looking for instant gratification, now. Previously, they could tell themselves, "There's always next year." Now, that's not so certain.
That about sums it up. That's not the full picture: The reality was that he has been lingering around testing cars here and there and nobody really wanted to sign him up. There must have been a reason, which is why I was questioning his seat from the beginning. Sure enough he didn't develop.
I wouldn't even turn up to Hungary if i was Piquet. He out qualified Alonso and then gets shown the door, i think he would be alittle pissed off to be honest.
Seb' Loeb is telling the French press he'd like the seat. http://www.crash.net/f1/news/149632/1/loeb_pitches_his_name_into_the_frame_to_replace_bourdais.html
Can't imagine todays GP helped his case... NP Jr., Maybe I'll meet you in a taxi some day... If you're able to keep the taxi on the road,... I'll give you a great tip!
Just more silly season BS... Nelsinho isn't going anywhere. He'll be there in Hungary, and they've promised him the same upgrades to the car as Alonso.
Really? How about this: http://www.blick.ch./sport/formel1/neuer-teamkollege-fuer-sebastien-buemi-123323 Auch bei Renault kommt es zu einem Fahrerwechsel. Teamchef Flavio Briatore schmeisst den punktelosen Brasilianer Nelson Piquet raus. Als Nachfolger übernimmt Ersatzpilot Romain Grosjean. Translation: Also with Renault there is a driver change: Team manager Flavio B. tosses out the Brazilian Nelson Piquet, who has zero points. Reserve driver Romain Grosjean takes over as the successor.
No one has every really heard the full story with Piquet. He was quick because he always ran for his own team. When they went to GP2 he bought some of the best engineers in the pitlane for his team. Not to mention the car was sent to Brazil and he racked up the miles testing then before sending it back. In F1 he can't quite do that any more and so he's paying the price
You realize that you are casually dismissing one of the most long time reporters of F1 who also is a personal friend of Bernie? Benoit has been reporting about F1 for 50 years and has been at the GPs in person. He was one of the first to break the news on the Kimi to Ferrari transfer.
Sounds like a friendly wager is in order... Personally, I can't understand how he's lasted so long... And then I remember Alonso needs a dead cat as a team mate, and it suddenly makes sense... Now that his (FA) season's done... and he's (FA) signed with ferrari for 2010... I suspect FA is "allowing" the dismissal of captain kitty litter...
I don't think so. I think Piquet has only had 2 good races in the two years he's been racing in F1. Thats not enough in the 25 orso GP's he's been in.
NP only outqualified Alonoso since Fred was caught out in a half wet track. There is no question Fred is 3X the driver Nelson is. I wonder if Nelson will still be arrogant now as a young F1 never was?
Punktelosen? Isn't that the German word for punk azz? Jr. was clueless in F1. Renault should bill him for the fuel he wasted.
Translation: Flabbio himself added fuel to the fire when he answered the question who'd be driving the 2nd Renault in Hungary: "I don't know. Maybe I'll drive it myself..." Good riddance Piquet Jr.!
