Has anyone switched tires on their 430 Scuderia to the Michelin PSS tires? Wondering about performance on the track vs. the Pirelli Corsa's that came on the car from the factory.

Brand new Corsas are fast the first 8 track sessions, then their grip reduces and they stay slow until dead.

Problem with most Corsa tires is that they heat cycle on the streets, so you may already finished them without ever going to a track.

MPSS are superfast for a full street tire, a tad slower than Corsa new for new, but after 8 track sessions the MPSS will stay as fast, and the Corsa is not near MPSS grip.

MPSS are producing over 1g of lateral acceleration, while Corsa did not reach 1g when tested in the Scuderia and 360Stradale.

For track use and no trailer: Trofeo R
    For multi-purpose: MPSS.

I tested the Corsa against the RE11 back to back, and on a 30 secs track (a Time Trials track I used to go almost every week in California), the RE11 was almost 1 second faster.

RE11 and MPSS are about the same, RE11 is just a little faster. The real difference is on the driver itself, rather than the RE11/MPSS/Corsa.

MPSS are affordable, Corsa obsolete and overpriced. Ferrari no longer equips any car with Corsa, but their best performance cars are equipped with MPSS: F12, 599GTO, 458 Italia.

Great info and advice. I have no experience with the RE11 but I have it with the other two and agree. I'm continually impressed with the MPSS. Its a tire that seemingly does it all- except snow ;)

When available in the stock 19" sizes I am getting Michelin Pilot Super Sports for my 08 f430. I am told another 30-45 days before they become available...I think its the rears that are backordered.

I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my new M5 (DD) and I love that tire thus far.

IMO Michelin Pilot Sport needs specific temperature to start working correct and except this, in the wet there are major problems with the grip BUT it's an exceptional tyre in and out of track (preferably in dry conditions). I used to run them in the CSL but now i'm running the new Continental Conti Force Contact. There are not excellent as the MPSS but for the few times i use the car it's ok.

I have the MPSS' on my Scud and just put 2500 miles on them and a run down the strip (don't ask...I used launch control and it wasn't exactly a pretty run :)). It was mostly dry, but STL to Chicago I went through an hour or so of rain and standing water on the road...they did great, I love em.

Had the MPSS mounted 3 weeks ago. There is a big difference between the corsa tire and these. They are quieter the ride is smoother and they dont pick up as much gravel to sand blast the body. I have not put enough miles to press them but they are a great change. The rear corsa tires with 5000 miles were worn to the wear bars, the fronts much less wear. These tires only had street use no track miles. Thank you F430GT for the recommendation.

PSS is probably the most versatile summer time out there. i drive it on track, and went through light snow by accident. It performed well in all these conditions.

I will get PSS on all my cars going forward. Priced right and great tires.

So many people are driving street tires on track these days. It's great to see smooth track surface without the little rubber pebbles from slicks. Much easier to clean up after a day on the track.
