I writing this as a heads up for anyone out there with these tires. Four years ago we replaced the tires on the wife's Benz convertible with the Nero's. No issues with drive ability but this last Saturday she noticed a large split (approx 8"long) in the tire side wall along the raised print on the left front while washing the car. This was hidden unless the print was aligned with the pavement ( on the bottom). The split continued around most of the side wall just more pronounced at the lettering. Further inspection found the other three tires were split as well and all near failure.
The car is garage kept, less than 18K miles on the tires (properly inflated) and they seemed to have about half the tred remaining. My point is from a normal walk around (not up close) they looked fine. I'm not writing this to bash the company just to let folks know with these tires to take a closer look.

I have had similar experiences with the Pirellis on a few of our Mercedes over the last few years. I will never buy another Pirelli tire and I now buy Conti's almost exclusively.

Do you know what the manufacture date of the tires is? They could have been sold to you as already old tires. If you post up a picture of the sidewall info I am sure someone could point out the date.

I did not take a picture unfortunately but had tires promptly replaced. The dealer did reduce the price of the new tires (prorated) by $100 as the Pirelli's were clearly defective. Is there a way for a consumer to easily find the build date on tires?
